Good points, you managed to convince me.

The idea of personal liberty and individual responsibility is hard to pass up :)

First alcohol has no other purpose than "having fun and being non productive" as you said and is legal. Second and none the less, if you remove the drug selling money from the criminal orginizations, you leave them with far less revenues to finance illegal activities. Third, tax money ca be use to finance public utilities instead of giving it to gangsters.
Oh and being fat and play games all the time also leads to being unproductive and I don't think it is illegal. People should use their judgement and common sense, legalizing is not abdicting those faculties, it's putting them into practice.
1. It is immoral to throw someone in a cage for doing something that doesn't harm another person.
2. If you are concerned that people will ruin their own lives with pot, it seems counterproductive to preemptively ruin their lives by turning them into criminals and making it that much harder for them to find employment and become productive members of society.
3. Prohibition doesn't work, anyway.
Wouldn't be great to be able to grow your own medicine? But I guess big pharma industries have a problem with that.
Do your own research online I also had a very uninformed opinion on marijuana.
I just want to add my uncle has a bad back injury and the doctor told him to take some painkillers but he takes them he gets very drowsy and can't work properly for the entire day so he did some research online and started taking Marijuana and it succesfully numbed the pain without altering his ability to work properly.

There are few of us that still believe in the Constitution/Bill of Rights. I'm glad to see someone on here who does.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/03/marijuana-deaths_n_3860418.html
read it and realize my hatred of marijuana prohibition.
Too many innocents being killed.
Marijuana drug cartels raking in undeserved profits while gang wars are killing people including innocents caught in the crossfire.
Lost tax revenue that could help schools, infastructure, etc...
Marijuana was made illegal due to racial issues in the early 1900's
Take a look at the lobbyists trying to keep marijuana illegal, they aren't known to be philantropic ;)
State money wasted on petty marijuana arrests.
More people are spending time in jail longer at that too for marijuana than most other dangerous crimes like rape assult etc... combined.
Innocent lives are being taken for baseless drug busts without any consequences (read link)
In my state (NY) more whites smoke and deal weed while most people serving time are blacks/hispanics.
And then there is the case for why its even illegal in the first place.
Weed makes you feel calm, lazy, euphoric, and relaxed. But you can still control yourself for the most part except prob. when you speak it will come out a little fuzzy unlike alcohol where you can become uncontrollable and start to go out on a rampage. It has no major long term side effects like binge drinking does or smoking tobacco does.
Marijuana doesn't have to be smoked either you can get edibles as well and there is no harm done to your throat and lungs that way.
Marijuana also has strains that is low in thc (typically produces the high) and higher cbd (gives you he feeling of relaxation and takes away the anxiety) which helps people who have stress, pain, nausea due to medication, etc while canceling out the effects of making you lazy.
The hemp plant itself is also one of he best alternatives to natural energy as well as creating paper (oil and paper industry are a couple of the lobbyists against legalizing marijuana).
So tell me why should Marijuana be illegal?
