A little outsider reply.

Didn't read the first post because of potential spoilers but I've heard so much good about the game (haven't played it yet). And I always like ND's games so I'll give it a try someday. But on topic I doubt it will be my game of the gen though...

Yep.

Seriously ... i dont even ...

So what were they needed for?  We both know the reason for sarcastic comments like this.  Dont act like they werent. Simply to bait and taunt people.

And by the way i answered that question.  Not sure why youre asking again.  It is too opinionated to say but Call of Duty 4 probably simply because the impact

What you guys think ? game of this gen ? And the story ? Do you liked the ending or do you think joel was selfish?

I agreed with everything you said in the parts I deleted. If I had to pick just one game of last generation to give a 10, I think I would choose The last of us. Fantastic story and fantastic characters. Original gameplay that rewarded conservation. There's never been a game where I'm incredibly happy to have one magazine. I have to say though, the ending was amazing. And It's because Joel was selfish. A lot of people have criticized the ending because they say it's not the ending what they would have done. A video that did a joke "summary" of the game like to repeatedly use the phrase "f*ck you, got mine" to criticize the story. The thing is, it's not really a joke. That "theme" (if you want to call it that) is used a lot throughout the game. This is because that's the point. Joel isn't supposed to be that much better than any other person. He's just another guy trying to live, so he'll do whatever it takes, and doesn't care about the rest. The ending of the game was fantastic because the two major characters live. Video games love to kill the main character nowadays because it "edgy." Honestly I was 90% sure that Joel was going to die the entire way through, and he was going to sacrafice himself in some heroic way. But they didn't do that because Joel is not a hero.

I think we should all ignore this thread because you only played this game just now (i mean really how could you wait so long).

But seriously the game is certainly GOTY for me as a plastation gamer (I cantsay for any nin or MS games). I dont believe it is GOTG though it would be up there among the best. I still think the Uncharted series is superior and while this game is very very good and has one of the best stories I can remember, I dont think in any other way it was really innovative (though it still had a very good gameplay).

It's probably just me, but I don't understand how so many people so thoroughly enjoyed the Last of Us' story. The beginning and the ending were both top notch, no argument there. The rest of the game inbetween though was kind of a drag, in my opinion, though.

Maybe I'm just playing too many video games now, but I pretty much called every significant plot point happening (outside of the ending sequence) a good 15 or so minutes before it did. The deaths of Tess and Henry/Sam, and how they died, were horribly predictable. I figured out how they were going to die as soon as Tess went off screen with Ellie and when Joel got separated from Henry/Sam/Ellie in that sniper shootout scene.

The gameplay was good but not anything outstanding; my only major complaint is how Joel can be outside of a certain "environment," or room, that houses enemies and not hear a thing, but as soon as he steps into said room, the enemies will instantly become hear-able. Graphics were certainly beautiful, music wasn't all that memorable, but the sound effects were top notch.

In the end, it was good survival gameplay, a story that really excelled at two points but was fairly predictable and kind of uninteresting inbetween, good character design and development for Joel and Ellie, so overall, a good game. I certainly enjoyed Last of Us...I just feel that it's incredibly overrated considering how many people are declaring it game of the year, or even game of the generation.

Well I'm pretty sure you were supposed to figure it out at that point lol.

i think he has special powers , he predicted the kid will die cause he was infected and his brother would suicide, damn.

This was long before we knew the kid was infected, though. The first time the game reveals he's infected is in a cutscene after all the sniper stuff is done, when he pulls up his pant leg and looks at his cut. Then everyone goes to sleep and he's a zombie the next morning (all in the same cutscene).

My point was that I figured out what was going to happen long before that cutscene was revealed.

As good as The Last of Us is it would prob rank up there with the top.

However it becomes opinionated after that.

As for game defying, probably Call of Duty 4. It changed the entire generation and brought in millions upon millions of new gamers, from casual to hardcore yearly.

call of duty is game of the gen for the dude bros and frat boys xD but to me turned this gen way worst , everyone tried to copy the formula, fps left and right to get one piece of the pie, to me this game only made this gen worse.

The original Modern Warfare was a fantastic game that redefined multiplayer gaming, it deserved all of the accolades that it recieved. I'll never understand the asinine trash talking (I can barely understand anything you wrote due to the grammer). You do realize that the FPS games that copy Modern Warfare are the minority right? Why is it that people who don't play / know anything about the FPS genre are so critical and whiny?

It is likely the best exclusive of this gen but there are other multiplat games I like more. I liked Battlefield Bad Company 2, Dark Souls, Castlevania Lords of Shadow, Mass Effect 2, Ninja Gaiden Sigma series and Borderlands series more.

Too hard to call for me.  All 3 systems had some amazing games.  I listed some of the ones I spend many hours on.

Many people would immediately point to the last of us because it was recent, but there are others.

Xbox 360:

COD: MW1 and 2 and beyond (more reluctantly as of late), Left 4 Dead 1, Gears of War all, GTA5

PS3:

God of Wars, Uncharteds, Last of Us

Wii:

Mario Kart, Mario Galaxy 1 / 2, Wii Sports (Gasp, but I've never seen people of ALL types come together for games like this one, proved that gaming doesn't HAVE to be a nerd with his headset)

In terms purely of hours played, it probably goes COD>Mario Kart=Left 4 Dead

---EDIT---

Add skyward sword too, that actually showed that motion controll could be used in a deeper game as well (graphics a little too blurry on the Wii, but what can ya do).

Wii sports defined this generation. Everyone and their Grandmas played it while most Grandmas haven't even heard of the Last of us.

And you arent the only one who matters so dont act like you are.  You asked a question so i gave you an answer.

All you can say is The Last of Us is youre game of the gen

"All you can say is The Last of Us is youre game of the gen"

That is why i asked a question champ, never mentioned every single guy here should acept the fact the last of us should be the undisputed game of the gen.

"  You asked a question so i gave you an answer."

Ok

"And you arent the only one who matters so dont act like you are "

Say what ? where did i act like that ?

Dude take a chill pill , dont know why the hell you so upset brah.

Did you refer to people who like COD as dude bro / frat, and then use the terms "champ", "chill pill" and worst of all, "brah"?  Talk about the pot calling the kettle black...
