The hype will die down now that PS4/Xbone will be releasing almost nothing for months on end. That was the Wii U's biggest problem. It actually had a really good launch, but gamers now have become accustomed to a new AAA game being released atleast once a month, and some months there can be up to 5 top notch games. Wii U had one top notch game, Lego City Undercover, over the course of 8 months, and even that is more like a solid mid-level title. Just go look at the lineups for the PS4/Xbone and it pretty much kills the hype just by reading it.

January - Tomb Raider Definitive
February - Rayman Legends,Lego Movie Game, Thief
March - Driveclub,Infamous 3, Titanfall
April - Dying Light, MLB The Show.

6 games that will be released on PS3/360. A zombie game that looks like Dead Island. Another racing game. Infamous 3 looks solid, but the 1st 2 only sold 4 million combined so I really doubt it will move the needle in terms of sales. I don't know about you guys but I am way more excited for Donkey Kong and Mario Kart for that time frame.

Why not post release dates for Ninty software if you are making a comparision.

January - Wii Fit U

February - Donkey Kong, Lego Movie Game

March -

April - Mario Kart 8

Nintendo ussually only puts out offical release dates about 1.5 - 2 months before launch so I wouldnt be shocked if Bayonetta or something else comes out in March.    Like I said DK and Mario Kart are both out in the same time frame and both look better then anything I have seen on the other 2.   Infamous looks solid but I really didnt like the 1st two.  I am actually less impressed with Titanfall then I was when they 1st showed it, and if I really want to play Thief I will just get the 360 version.

Ok come april.

Why the hell would the average consumer choose U over the others ?

If they want COD then need a PS or X, if they want Shooters(it is whats selling) they want a PS or X.  Come april and im a consumer looking to get into the new gen why in the hell am i gonna go for a consoel where their best games are exactly like the ones iv played decade ago ? There is no GTA coming to U and look how many are playign GTA5 now, why the hell would they choose WiiU as their next console ?

I just got a big 60" tv, im some what broke im only buying one console this gen why the hell am i gonna choose Wii U ???  Im buying my teen kid a console, why choose the Wii over the PS4 which all his friends want or have???

By the way if you are waiting for GTA VI then yes thats why you should get a Wii U now instead.  theres actually games to play and GTA VI wont be out until atleast 2016, maybe even 2017.

Another Donkey Kong?   This is the 5th one in 20 years.   They cranked out 5 Halo's in 6 years.

Mario Kart?  The last console one was 6 years ago and if you want to count the 3DS one that was still almost 3 years ago.

I'm sure Driveclub will be another generic racing game, the likes of which we see every 6 - 9 months.   Dying Light just looks like a ripoff of Dead Island.   Titanfall has potential but EA has been trash lately so it wouldnt shock me if it turned out to be all hype, no substance.   Like I said Infamous could be decent but the 1st two were nothing special, and going by the only 1.6 million Infamous 2's sold, I think most people would agree.

Your really going to argue that the Wii U will have a more diverse linuep than the PS4 or XB1.  Check the list of indie games coming to PS4 between now and the end of March.  XB1 will get indie support eventually (especially if they ditch the parity clause).

The fact is that the Wii U will be trounced in both the number and diversity of games available for the system.  I still expect it to do well and I will get one when the next Zelda finally arrives, but let's not be delusional.

The main way to determine which console to purchase is by software. To differentiate between PS, XB, and Ninty is by exclusives. Ninty consoles has the most and best exclusives.

Yahh deny 3rd party importance casue U has none.  The same games each gen does not equal best exclusives, wake me up when Ninty makes a platformer or racers that does not feature Mario.

If you go by purchase is by software then PS4 is the only choice, all the 3rd partygames best most diverse exclusives and most indies.

I know Wii U does not have 3rd party support except for some AAA main games like COD AC4 and Watch Dogs. Nintendo consoles dont need 3rd party games since they have 1st party games from almost every genre. XB1 has just as much 3rd party games as the PS4 but 2 or so fewer exclusives. Ninty consoles have more diverse exlcusives than Sony consoles. I am not going to lie. I have no interest in Indies so I cannot argue with you on that part of your post.

With delusional thinking like that i dont even know if there any point in a rebuttal.  But why not its all in good fun.

Yoshi Lugi are all from MArio same franchise nothing new there , last Fzero was a decade ago and give me a racer thats not a tie in spin of to nins other franchise (Mario DK).  Even SSb is just a mash up of Mario and others, nothing new.  Which is funny they got the know how to make a awesome fighitng game, how about use it to make a new franshise with NO mario in it.

All i see is Mario MArio Mario spin of Mario racing Mario party MArio brother and Marios buddy game Mario sports.

Your Arguing agaist Sonys cleary superior diversity with 90% mario content and franchises that havent had a full releases in many a years, get real dude.

Sony's Diversity?   I am including Vita/PSP games here FYI.  4 Uncharteds in 4 years.  5 Resistance in 6 years. 4 Killzone in 4 years. 8 releases of God of War in 5 years.  3 LBP in 4 years (1 of which was a "Kart" game").    Come on now, The Last of Us was the most unique thing Sony has done in years and people act like they are the new IP kings.    if it wasnt for COD,GTA, and Fifa the PS4 wouldnt even exist right now.

I think he is trying to say that sony have more diversity in games GENRE. I mean, nintendo WII U have tons of cartoonish "Kiddy" platform exclusives but there is lack of more mature/harcore games.Sony on the other hand, Have great platformers(LBP,puppeteer,SLY), Driving(GT 5/6), FPShooters(Resistance and Killzone),RPG(Tales of Xillia,Ni no kuni,HD remasters),TPShooters (Uncharted and TLOU),Hack and slash(God of War) and a lot of japanese 3rd party exclusives coming soon.

The hardcore are complete suckers for hype, even without substance, so PS4bone may keep going for awhile, even without much software of note. The main factors though that I see causing pretty significant drops soon are the fact that are are SO many hardcore type consoles out on the market now, between PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U to an extent, and now PS4 and Xbone, and the Steambox coming soon. You can only have so many similar consoles without oversaturating the market and having some consoles canibalize the sales of others. There is also the factor of the economy, which makes it far more difficult for consoles over $400 to sell to a mass market audience.

Eventually, these consoles are going to need the games to back up the hype, of the sales will start to fall. Even the hardcore cannot keeping buying these consoles on hype and the novelty of the new tech forever, without worthwhile games to play them on.

Well in terms of genre I would say they are pretty even.  if you are just looking at what ages the games are aimed at, then obviously Nintendos stuff is aimed towards a younger crowd and Sony's is aimed towards an older crowd.   I really couldnt care less personally about what age group is aimed towards, I am more into great and challenging gameplay.   Donkey Kong Country Returns graphically is cartoonish but was more difficuly then any Sony game I played last gen, by far.

The past two gens Nintendo has had exclusive Resident Evil games and Tales of Symphonia 1 & 2. Madworld, No More Heroes, Last Story, Red Steel, Bayonetta, Pandora's Tower, ZombiU, Monster Hunter Tri.

Its easy for people to forget those games because it doesnt fit in to the whole "Nintendo only makes Kiddie games arguement".    Pikmin even though its a more colorful game is aimed at the older RTS crowd too.

I really like that u say Nintendo games are the same as a decade ago then u use Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto as examples for PS/Xbox. U do realize that CoD started in 2003 and GTA in 1997?

Also most of the best sellers on PS3/360 were from 10+ year old franchises. Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Battlefield, Madden, FIFA, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Halo, Gran Turismo, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Fable, Ratchet & Clank, Street Fighter, Need for Speed, Splinter Cell, Fable, Far Cry, Medal of Honor, Ghost Recon are all over 10 years old.

Im not saying there werent new ip released in the last decade, just pointing out ur double standard.

There are too many threads on when will ps4xbox pass wii u its just plain stupid! I think its time to predict when the launch hype stops when all the hardcore have bought there brand of choice and sales slow down on the new systems. The hardcore crowd is not as big as most of the users here would like to belive and there is not a whole lot of games on the new console to convenience the average gamer to jump in.I think will see a drop faster than what most people would like outside of japans launch I think it dies down in late jan. early feb. Most games are on old and new consoles the average gamer has no big reason to buy a new console if cod or titanfall bf4 or madden are still on the old.PS3 had a big launch because of the hardcore fans and than it slowed considerable same with wii u so dont act like its not possible!

Finally someone who's willing to make a reality check. I also believe we will see quite a dramatic slow down in sales for PS4 and XboxOne soon. I'd say the hype will ease off in early february for PS4 in the US and in Europe, and the same will happen fpr XboxOne a few weeks earlier in the territories where it was released last year. The Japanese PS4 launch will compensate for the slowdown in february and in march, and with a bit of luck maybe even in april. However from then on the hype will be gone. For XboxOne launches in new territories won't compensate for the slow down, leading to quite a bad spring and summer for Microsoft.

I'd say the hardcore market consists of 10-15 million consumers, so called very early adopters. They should be split quite even between XboxOne and PS4 (perhaps with a slight advantage to PS4). This means the hype in the hardcore community will ease off once the systems reach sales between 5-7,5 million respectively. The will start to ease off sometime between february and may depending on territory.

I think we will see very low sales of all three next generation systems during the summer, perhaps with Wii U being the only positive surprise thanks to Mario Kart 8's expected broad appeal. Not that I think Wii U will outsell PS4 in the summer, but it migh actually perform better than expected, while the others perform either slightly lower than expected, or in XboxOne's case, really bad.

The hype for PS4 and XboxOne will kick in again in september, when we will see the first true next generation releases for those systems, and the main stream market will begin to jump on board.

All the above might lead to PS4 overtake Wii U sales in september/october, instead of april/may as some people take for granted. And XboxOne might not overtake Wii U until early 2015.

The past two gens Nintendo has had exclusive Resident Evil games and Tales of Symphonia 1 & 2. Madworld, No More Heroes, Last Story, Red Steel, Bayonetta, Pandora's Tower, ZombiU, Monster Hunter Tri.

Does Wii U have Fire Emblem,Metroid or a mature Zelda yet?  i mean, i never said nintendo dont have mature franchise(F zero and Zelda TP style are good examples),but Wii U dont have GOOD mature exclusives yet and nintendo is trying to capture the casual that saved Wii last gen so they probably will continue to focus on cartoonish platformers. The only mature game(that i remember) that is coming to wii u right now is Bayonetta 2 and this is not a NINTENDO quality game,it's a dead franchise that don't sold very much and the small fan base are in PS360.
