If you think you can put it to good use, I say go for it. You're getting 4X 1080p screen realestate which alone would cost you 500 bucks (22 inch monitors X4).

I was actually lined up to get this TV for gaming believe it or not. The 50 inch 4K Seiki TV that came out before this works in the same manner (4k @ 30hz) but it is the ONLY TV on the market at the moment that allows for 120 hz input and screen 120hz output @ 1080p.

Up until now this only worked with Nvidia 3D vision 120 hz monitors and using Dual Link DVI port but somehow in some way the HDMI port used in that TV is running at a very high frequency allowing it to process 120 frames as well as display them. No other TV on the market is capable of this...

Anywho, long story short, the 39 inch model came out but sadly didn't have this ability. It takes 120hz @ 1080p input but skips frames and only shows 60. Bummer.

Do you know if the announced Dell monitors will support 4K@60Hz?

The 32 inch Dell 4K monitor is a rebranding of a Sharp 4K and it does support 4K@ 60 by utilizing 2X dual DVI in eyefinity. Essentially you set up 2 displays @ 1920X2160 in eyefinity and display them on the monitor side by side.

The 24 4K monitor dell brought out for like 1000 bucks does do 60hz using display port 1.2.

Also they apparently have a 28 inch monitor on the way for under 1000 bucks. My guess is that it will support 60 hz as well, prolly using HDMI 2.0. Monitors can't get away with 30 hz at 4K since they are not meant for movie watching which is usuall 24 fps hence 30 hz is enough.

Hoping this stuff gets sorted and standardized and that prices fall fast...

Thanks, and I also hope prices fall fast.

I'd love to have that 24" 4K monitor. No more AA needed!

That's a bit unfortunate about the 39". A 50" makes a great living room display, but since I'd be using it mainly as a secondary monitor, that's too big unless I design a new workspace that puts me at an appropriate distance for desktop use.

I suppose I can always play the waiting game since I don't have an immediate need. That's assuming I want to use it for gaming of course.

That 39" is still $499 on Amazon and the 50" is $999, so those seem to be permanent discount prices.

Meh. I'll keep my quad-AMD 7950s.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
