Forums - Sony - The Solution to Vita's Hardware Sales Drought

Games, games, games...
Still no sign of the main Sony franchises on Vita:

Gran Turismo? What are they doing? Still no Gran turismo for Vita? They are worse than Nintendo here with their best system seller.
God of War?

And some exclusives like:

GTA?
Daxter-ish? I know Vita has the Jak & Daxter trilogy but still Daxter was awesome on PSP. And no; Remote playing Knack on Vita is not as good as what Daxter-ish could be on Vita!

They should make a reverse remoteplay so I can play Vita games via my PS4 on my TV. I don't want to be forced to buy a Vita TV.

They say they can't

Solution? make an ORIGINAL GT on Vita. Not some port sony. we don't want ports.

Not even sony cares about the vita anymore. We all should follow their example and just pretend that it never happened, and at this point that's probably the best thing they can do. Just focus in their successful machine (ps4) and forget what may hurt their brand.

Uhm, nintendo fanboy? You sound like there is really nothing that can be done. Sure the vita can't match the sales of the 3ds but it can manage to have good sales as well.  Easy for you to say, how about the 7 million that invested on the system? That will just hurt the brand if sony does that.

First, I hope you know that calling someone else a fanboy is a bannable offense per this site rules. I won't report you because I believe is an stupid rule but just to let you know.

Second, I think there are ways to compensate current vita owners. I would assume that atleast 80%+ of vita owners intend to buy a ps4 at some point, Sony could give a few ps4 games to people that register a vita or something like that.

Besides, we just have to accept that some things just don't have very long lifespans. Remember that this is new territory for sony, never before a gaming platform from them has sold even closely as bad as the vita is doing. They aren't used to carry a platform based solely on the strength of first party games like Nintendo has done in the past. Also, Sony has been in big financial problems for years so is in their best interest to cut losses as much as they can.

But if you want strategies, here is one for you. The ps4 is selling pretty well despite not having a single must have game and 3rd party developers will support the platform for years to come. That means that sony could put a lot of their 1srt party studios to develop exclusively for the vita for a year or two if they truly want to help their portable device (which I don't think they want anyway). The ps4 doesn't needs sony 1st party strength at the moment but the vita does. Will they care enough about their vita fans? One can only hope (contrary to what you may think I would like to see all platforms succeed)

No offense to anyone that likes them but they need to stop pouring money into niche artsy games and instead spend it all on big AAA handheld games like a Demons Souls 2 (Vita exclusive) for example.

They need to take some of their best teams like Naughty Dog and have them make a Vita game instead of treating the system like a second class citizen and farming out work to external developers.

I own both a 3DS and a Vita so I'm not biased either way but one thing I can say is that Nintendo treats their handheld with far more respect than Sony and it's part of the reason why Vita is getting hammered in sales.

I don't see them changing price more than what's normal. The Vita is selling to a certain audience, mostly the japanese niche, and without more games for other audiences a price drop won't help (that much). Remember, you can't JUST cut the price of a product. You actually lose money on doing that. Yes, in the long run it might be smart (see 3DS) but this isn't always the case. The Vita isn't extremely expencive, and you have to face it, will never do as well as the 3DS for the ones not buying because of the price.

I know some people believes that putting a Triple A exclusive on the Vita could turn it around (nothing wrong with this logic) but remember they can't even localize those well known Japanese games that is already on the Vita. So Houston, we have a problem. :
