Forums - Nintendo - [Poll] What if Level-5 Inc. made a Wii U Pokemon game like Ni No Kuni?

Would you like to see what Level-5 could do with the Pokemon IP?

This year saw the release of one of the best JRPG's of the generation in Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. The game has so much in common with the Pokemon franchise, and it seems to be what a lot of people dream a console Pokemon game would be like. It brings to life a fantastic world, features a deep and immersive story that is perfect for children and adults alike, translates the monster collecting elements found in Pokemon elegantly into a full real-time action setting, and features an impressively orchestrated soundtrack.

So why not? Level-5 has proven itself as a compitent developer and the generation has just begun. Nintendo has been bringing 3rd party studios in to work on awesome spin-offs to key Nintendo IPs as of late. Would you like to see what Level-5 could do with the Pokemon IP? I definitely would.

I'm not sure how Game Freak/The Pokemon Company would feel about that.

I would love that. It's not like GameFreak, or Nintendo is going to take a risk with it.

Gamefreak isn't even close to the only developer to touch a Pokemon game. They wouldn't feel anything.

I found Ni No Kuni to be a bit slow in my tastes. Don't know how I would feel about pokemon game in that same light.

Then why haven't we seen a real Pokemon RPG on a console? I know there are Pokemon games made by other studios, but how many of them aren't spin-offs?

The game I'm talking about by definition WOULD be a spin-off. Every game that isn't part of the main series is, by definition, a spin-off. No one's debating that. And Pokemon Colleseum and XD: Gale of Darkness are both catagorically "real Pokemon RPGs."

Also, I don't know what that link is supposed to prove. Gamefreak does not own Pokemon; Nintendo does. If Nintendo wanted to, they could fire Gamefreak and get literally anyone they want to continue the main series. Gamefreak created the IP, but Nintendo owns it.

Level-5 should but it needs to be on the Vita--or, perhaps, cross-play between the PS4 and Vita. Nintendo already has Level-5's Youkai Watch.

I would own a WiiU.

I am the Playstation Avenger.
