It would really be unusual.  You can normally take 20~25% of Dec sales, and adjust a bit for unusual momentum like pent up demand or a new big game.

So for Wii U for example Dec estimate: 430k based on current momentum, take a generous 25% of that: ~110k, and no adjustment because there are no big games releasing in Jan.

US: Xbox One- 240k, PS4- 270k, Wii U- 210k. Global: Xbox One- 470k, PS4- 480k, Wii U- 440k.

Sony may have stock issues, I think MS and Big N won't have that issue. So PS4 could be lower on that issue, or higher if they can put more units on shelves. XBO may sell better in the US, but I don't expect WW to be any higher than 800K still. The limited amount of regions and lower demand will hurt it over seas. WiiU I think will see an uptick from last year, but still be well under the competition.

Did you make a mistake with the global numbers for Xbox? Because that just seems way too low.

No. America is really its only big market. Not out in Japan and it's selling poor in most of Europe. Last week the ratio of USA to WW was 2:3, so being 3:4 in Jan doesn't seem too crazy.

Well, I think since the XBO is so well supplied it will make good sales, and more than ps4 for the January month. Its just a guess.

Because the holiday boost will be over and DK will not be out until next month, leaving Jan barren as far as what I would buy for wiiu.  Maybe 180K if something nintendo was coming out.
