nicely done. you avoided the question... as people often do with me on this site... because you saw where this was going and realized if you answered the question I would have trapped you in your own logic, which I'm going to go ahead and do anyway.
the new consoles are part of the video game console market, you know that, and as such are the next generation of consoles to hit the current video game console market.
hence, my argumentative little friend, there's the reason why people are presently referring to them as the next-gen consoles.
Right now, as I type this, they are sitting on store shelves beside the seventh generation consoles, so because of this, a handful of names apply:
New Consoles, Eighth-Gen Consoles, Next-Gen consoles, Current Gen Consoles... they all work, they all apply.
