Does anyone else remember how last year xbox fans would say that the real next gen fight would be in europe cause the xbox has NA locked already? Oh how the times have changed :D

This is why predictions thread are so good .

Back in January , lot of people  thought Wii U would be the leader of the generation, then, 3 months later " but bad Wii U sales show that video game market is dead, Orbis and 720 wont do better "

So funny

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

I'm not seeing any reference to Xbox One sales on this source:

http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fblog.es.playstation.com%2F2013%2F12%2F23%2Fps4-134-000-unidades-vendidas-en-menos-de-un-mes%2F&act=url

It just says PS4 sold 134k, doesn't mention Xbox.

The OP has a paragraph about the 4.8:1 ratio, but it's not on the website. How do we know the supposed "PR email" is legit?

It would be interesting if PS4 was 499 and XBO was 399, though.

Microsoft has made a ton of mistakes it seems with XBO, yet they will still be (and already are) fine, it will just be an uphill battle to win the gen.

People constantly ignore that mainland Europe is not some huge market. 360 was pummeled there,  even more in Japan, yet 360 still outsold PS3 worldwide. All those Spain sales to date are less than a weekend in the US.

This numbers said Sony. Its official the numbers for Ps4. But the numbers for Xone, why Sony talk about this? Not official. In Spain Sony all days said : Im not stock run to shop...is a lie...Dont believe....

What a load of Bullshit.

It's a huge market, but it does not dwarf all others or even just the USA as the constant insinuation implies (since it is Sony's stronger market, we hear much more about it and it's always implied as if it's gigantic, but it is not)

I'd say we even see that already this gen. Lots of threads about how PS4 is outselling Xbox 4-1 here or there like ebay, yet the only actual official numbers we have are 2.1m PS4's on Dec 1, and 2m Xbox's on Dec 10th. Not that far apart. Just as 360 and PS3 were not far apart worldwide (with 360 winning)

I do expect PS4 to outsell XBO early on mind you once constraints ease, and I think PS4 is in higher demand. But I think most of that is because it's 399. If XBO was 399 and PS4 was 499 it would be different.

And this board LITERALLY causes typos. I'm sure of it now. Must be some kind of java filter that makes text input lag. I make 10x more typos on this forum than any other, then always have to go edit them...

No it wouldnt. PS3 dominated Europe even though it came out 1.5 years later than 360, it was 599 euros vs 299/399 360 consoles, inferior ports etc.

PS4 would still dominate Europe if the pricetags changed becoz the situation wouldnt be even half as bad as 2007.

This logic is somewhat faulty though because in 2006 Sony was dominant, now they are not. Each generation is different. We already see that with XBO doing "ok" despite less power and  a higher price. MS never could have pulled that off vs Sony in 2006, in 2006 they would have been destroyed. Remember last gen it was still up in the air if GTA would be Sony exclusive. Now it's unthinkable, as an example how the market landscape changes. In 2005-2006 Micrsoft was a strong underdog, now they are on equal footing.

Sony will likely continue to dominate mainland Europe I agree. But mainlaind Europe is not the whole market.

Spain was always a lock. It's what's going on in the UK which is more interesting. It's like a swing state. PS2 -> 360 -> ???.

Grats though. Spaniards sure are loyal to Sony. I wonder if we'll get any "but Spanish people have no money" comments, aside from this one.

XB1 is definitely more "available" here. The question is, is it due to lower demand than the PS4 or much better stock allocations?

A colleague at work actually picked an XB1 in her local ASDA off the shelf on Monday (23rd Dec).

Stonking figures for PS4 in Spain, but the main one I like is that 15k for Vita. That's actually a pretty healthy number for one smaller market in Europe. If it's doing as well in the larger ones, Vita might actually be getting a bit of life in Europe now too.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Yeah Vita sales in UK were meant to have increased quite nicely. Still nowhere near 3DS levels, but at least looking like it might be to a point where the Vita regains a bit of relevance in the market.
