Sam's Club is member exclusive, whose demographic is mostly other businesses getting things at wholesale price. And the "regular" people that are members are mostly middle aged penny pinchers.
Unless you know some strapping young lads that, when they need toilet paper, think "omg, I need to get 50"
What I'm trying to say is, Sam's Club doesn't have your run of the mill consumers. So I would say PS4s being in stock at this particular retailer isn't indicative of anything since they have a limited amount of people that can even spend their money there
The Amazon trick didn't work here or there are more than 9999 units in stock because that's the maximum number for quantity in the site.
Who the hell would buy the PS4 at $513.96?
Welp, this is what NPD is looking like.
Xbox One = 2 kabillion units sold
PS4 = 1080 units sold
Wii U = - 799 units sold (Nintendo actually owes you money for buying one)
It's obvious that Sams Club was the dealbreaker here.
It's obvious that demand is decreasing. But I'm not sure if this shows that well.
Still, it's Christmas in a couple days. We shall see after if the PS4 will perform well in the long run.
