Forums - Movies & TV - After anti-gay and Racist remarks, should Duck Dynasty be cancelled?

But he didn't say all blacks were happy, he said the guys he worked with seemed happy And he never personally saw mistreatment, who are we to say that phil ribertson and the guys he worked with didn't have a nice boss?

the issue is he didn't make a comment on the overall era he made a comment about his particular place of work, we shouldnt put words in hos mouth so that we can what he didnt say offensive.

Please explain why he should burn for saying any of that.

Is it that much of a problem to just accept that some people don't like other types of people? man, I hate politics.

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.
Proud pre-orderer of 2 PS4's and an Xbox One.

Currently Playing: Dark Souls II, South Park
Playstation 4: MGS V GZ, Killzone: Shadow Fall, NBA 2k14.

Pat had the right to say what he said, GLAAD had the right to request his suspension, A&E had the right to choose to suspend him based on what he said, and the public has the right to respond as it is.

Beautiful day for freedom when you think about it.

Duck Dynasty is far and away their most popular show. It isn't a simple choice for them to just cancel it considering how much revenue it brings in. A&E will have no problems getting advertisers for a show that pulls ten million viewers per episode.

Does it represent more than 50% of their revenue?

Like I said, it's not a question of popularity of that show. If keeping that show destroys the rest of their business, then they're screwed. And it might be harder to get advertisers if large swathes of people choose to boycott any company that advertises on the show, irrespective of the size of the audience.

Tell me - do you honestly believe that the management of the network haven't weighed up the pros and cons of cancelling the show vs keeping it going? Do you really think they'll completely cancel a show, complete with all of the side-effects of doing so, without first considering whether the show is a net liability in the circumstances first? Do you really think that they're that incompetent?

Except boycotts never actually work.

Actually, generally when boycotts are announced... buisness actually goes up because their name is in the news.

Boycotts don't work? Yes they do, the problem is our generation is lazy we don't go through in our boycotts. Look at the 50's-60s when the bus system was boycotted off the whole rosa parks situation they lost so much money they were forced to change their rules.

Money rules ALL as soon as a business knows it's going to lose money it will concede, look at the boycotts XboxOne was going to get due to their DRM policy, they changed their policies because they saw how poor their preorder numbers were compared to the competition.

So you believe there was a few blacks who were completely happy not being allowed to sit down in a spot if a white person wanted it. They were happy about having to go in early at night so they wouldn't get hung. They were happy about having to wake up in the middle of the night to check and make sure their home wasn't being burned down by a cross in their yard. They were happy about having to pick up their food in the back of the establishment where the dogs were because they weren't allowed to sit in the establishment because it was only for whites. They were happy about their kids or themselves not allowed to go to prestigious schools because of the color of their skin.

Just imagine if you were a black man and I was a white man and I told you "Get up boy I want this seat" and you had to get up and stand while I sat in your seat. How in the world would you feel? No blacks were happy during the Jim Crow era PERIOD!!!!

Cmon you can't be this naive bro, blacks were treated less than human in the jim crow era and blacks were not happy in those times. This would be like me ( a black man) saying I talked to a few jews and they were happy during the nazi years. Do you understand how stupid that statement would be?

I'm not jewish I have no business even talking about how jewish people felt, that's none of my got dang business. That moron has no reason to be talking about how blacks felt during the jim crow era, he doesn't know how we felt and like I said he's a moron.

I say: let him speak, a crazy redneck oopinion has no effect whatsoever in the world, if he was a vegetarian artis in other hand, we should worry, because:

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Again, you are brimging up things he didnt talk about.  He was talking about his time workimg on a farm with black guys, the message he was discussing was one of people that he had realationships with were happy people.  He wasnt talking about walking uo to somebody and saying boy get up.

He was a poor white kid working with other poor white and black kids and there happiness, are we really going to call a man racist because of this.  Its sad enough to see how distorted the term racist has become but niw a person cant even talk about a happy memory without being attacked.

i get it, we arent going to agree and thats ok...have a good christmas.

Oh god what a bunch of babies. Who the hell really cares anymore? He said some shit about gay people, WHO GIVES A FLYING FUCK?
Really. How does it affect you?
