I guess we will find out in Decembers NPD.. if sony is above MS, then I think we can feel confident that they are producing more.

No. One company flies in a load instead of shipping it, and the numbers (being small at this time) suddenly look completely different.

Good shout.  Given the shortages both suppliers are experiencing it'd be a good bet that they're both air-freighting in deliveries.  Christmas is too important not to get every unit possible on the shelf.

If it is really 1.25 mil they could have 6 mil PS4s produced through the end of November. Mean the ones produced towards the end of the month have a shot at making it to retail before cmas.

September
October
November
December

If they did 1.25m per month they will have only 5 million at the end of the year but you can be sure they just reach 1.25m per month in November or this month... so I expect 3.5-4 million in these 4 months.

So my estimates...

Sep: 500k
Oct: 800k
Nov: 1m
Dec: 1.25m

4 million + delivered to retailers by December 31 seems likely. Wouldn't be shocked if it was 5 million.

It is near the end of the end....

I dont think they went into full production until the beginning of september...

production started back july i think , they may not have reach thier production target until sept. Was it not Pacter claiming the sept timeline?

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

The oldest PS4 was made in September (you can see the date in the back of the console)... there is no PS4 made before that.

Not sure, but even if it was Im sure that he has access to a lot more information about this stuff then we do.  I doubt they would have more than about 3 million ready at launch, as that is about the limit that retail channel can hold, especially durring the holiday season.  So a  september ramp up to full production at about 1 million a month makes sense.

???

If they had nearly 3 million shipped 2 weeks ago, It will be surprising they don't get to 4 million by years end.

Same as ONE then.  My day one console is dated 17-09-2013 on the base.

I believe so... Major Nelson himself said in the first week of September that the fist batch of retail consoles was out the production line.

I think both machines started the mass production at the same time... before that it was only limited prodution for dev or test kits.

PS. My PS4 is November production... not a surpise because the launch here was Nov 29th.
