Forums - PC - Update: Day Z (alpha version) sells 800k in 18 days

And I'm one of them.

Great improvements so far actually, it has gone back to being the challenging and tense game it used to be when the mod first released.

Is this still Arma 2 or the new Arma 3 mod ?

Standalone game, not connected to Arma anymore.

yeah, was surprised when steam told me that 35k people play dayz because i didn't know about the release. i think that counts for many people and the game will sell millions in the next years since steam games have also great legs with all the sales.

I loved ARMA 2 and operation flashpoint cold war crisis so I'll pick up DayZ eventually.

Do you know when it will be ready for proper release?

Based on my initial impressions, it can't be far off. But then again, nobody predicted it would take him 18 months to get this far. It's still a little buggy, but no worse than the original mod. Lots of new content has been added though, and it feels really balanced.

The best thing is that the new tweaks and increased difficulty have encouraged people to team up again, just like when the mod first released. Apparently people have been robbing other people at gunpoint instead of killing them, to save ammo.

I've played the mod version of it. Was very nice indeed. Haven't bought the standalone yet.

I've read somewhere that vehicles and hunting (animals) are not in the game (yet? aka cut out)
Is that correct or was it some troll ?
Because I liked hunting to get meat and make food out of it. And the Vehicles to get faster from a to b were also nice.

If I was able to run the Arma 2 mod, would I be able to run this game?

I don't think that is true, I chased a rabbit last night. Haven't seen a single vehicle though.

I loved how rare vehicles were in the original. I remember when I first saw a chopper in the sky, my mind was blown.
