Forums - Nintendo - Retro Studios is the New Rare

Retro needs more variation in IPs before I consider them a true successor to Rare. They do develop high-quality games though, there's no denying that.

Exactly what I was saying.

Its a shame because there's so much potential in Retro, but so far they've only been allowed to work on Nintendo IPs so far. I don't mind since they do create great games, but maybe they should be allowed to expand so they can work on some new IPs as well.

I love Retro but not really. Rare had astronomical output in terms of frequency and quality, Retro has the latter but absolutely not the former. Also as has been pointed out, original IPs aren't yet part of their repertoire.

I see Rare as being one of the main pillars that support the N64, Retro just doesn't have that level of influence or impact.

They should definitely expand their variety. I would really want a new IP but if not at least do something other than Metroid & DK.

Star Fox, F-Zero, Fire Emblem, or Earthbound would be cool from them.

Nope they don't have enough variety yet imo.
