Forums - Sales - EVERY Best Buy store in Boston area has Xbox1 in stock but no PS4

So it's not just around here? I work at Target so we're pretty low on the console supply chain. But we had them in our add for this week so we got them for that (6 PS4s, 13 Xbox Ones) on sunday. We were telling people that we were going to have them and to show up early. We sold out of PS4s in 30 minutes. It took us until 11:30 AM today to sell out of Xbox Ones. We also got 12 more PS4s by surprise today around noon and even though nobody knew we were getting them they sold out in less than 5 hours.

All of the targets in my district have (or at least had at 5:30 EST) Xbox Ones in stock but no PS4s.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

MS cares about 1 market, they've all but given up on the other ones. This is the sole reason.

I wonder which model will turn out better. Since it looks like Sony and MS have pretty much the same amount of consoles. Sony simply chose to get the biggest amount of different markets, MS to concentrate on smaller number but without stock issues. Going to be interesting.

I think both are doing the best they can at the moment. MS has no choice but to focus on the US and UK. They can't compete with a cheaper PS4 in Europe, but they can in the US.

And Sony is growing their install base Worldwide. Making sure by the time MS reaches those places, people will not care that much specially if they can get Infamous and The Order out by then. I remember reading that Sony is loosing money on each P4 sold in the US but are breaking even in Europe with 400 Euro compared to $400. So financially it's a little healthier for Sony to sell more out of the States.

But Sony must not like the idea of someone coming in to buy a PS4, can't find it and end up buying a Xbox One. Will be interesting to see how Sony handle their next shipments

That Market also happens to be the greatest gaming market and also the safest for them. I don't see them doing good out of the US.

If you combine all the markets they've given up, they add to more than the US. On top of this, the ps4 still appears to be showing higher demand in the US. We will only see which console is truly doing better once supply catches up to demand for both systems.

This could be good news or bad news for MS. We'll have to wait for December NPD to see which.

PS4 selling like hotcakes! Won't know for sure though until sales #'s are posted

Yeah it does appear that the PS4 has a higher demand in the US and would probably sell more than the Xbox One if available. But that lack of availability is 40% good and 60% bad for MS.

40% good: people go to a store for a PS4, can't find it and decide to buy Xbox One.

60% bad: people who thinks that the PS4 will not be available until February will be on the look and quickly buy it (which might explains the quick sold out everytime it's available) grow the install base a lot faster for Sony. I fall on the this category. It's my first time buying a console at launch. I have always considered launch buyers as beta Testers. But the fear of not being able to find a PS4 till February, March got me to be on the look out everyday until I found one.

MS have less demand... that's a surprise lol

Yeah, most of the time, I'm seeing ps4's sell out within 30 minutes, and xbox ones sometimes take over a day to sell out. I doubt they are supplying THAT much more. And I've got to say something. People will just buy the first next gen console they see if they can't find the one they intended to buy? That's a little sad.
