The people who have the ability from years of gaming experienc to discern value in the evolution in a game from mechanics to gameplay are generally in the minority for relatively any product under public scrutiny. People on this site and the likes of you apply to this. We have opinions and we state them regardless of whether we disagree or agree. It is a hobbyist or connoisseurs mentality if you will. We have a evolved taste for games unlike non-gamers who do not know or care about the value or growth of gaming. They tend to flock to the flavor of the month and move on. If its the Iphone, they'll buy it and if its the Samsung, they'll leave the IPhone and buy it. If some ground breaking and simple feature is created the mass market generally responds to what is simple. Pop music that on average lasts three to four minutes with a lack of meaningful lyrics, western made films that mainly dont go beyond 90 minutes and more. Its all psychology because en mass people think simple. The finer things will always be purchased by a minority in whatever category you choose because the minority understands the depth of said product and prefers the depth of said product. It doesnt matter were but if something is done that has a following the minority will always have the better reasoning and discerning taste. In sales quality has nothing to do with high sales. Games are generally dumbed down so the masses can enjoy them.

forget about the wii for just a second, how do you think supenes, playstation, ps2, ps3 and 360 were so successful, its called marketing and third party support, when you have every developer supporting you, something is bound to come out that will attract the masses, with the wii, it was the wiimote, you noticed that nintedno, sony or microsoft never bothered to make something simlair and package it with there console, like the move, cause they know that market is over with, yet you can't seem to accept it.

As it is now....for me atleast. Yes the Wii U has the most appealing software, however not the most appealing hardware.

In the near and distant future though.....PS4 and XBONE have the more appealing software. IMO of course.

Connoisseurs, eh ? Well the market must think their trash for the most part because afterall there no different since they have the same rights. They don't care about your so called "evolved tastes" because their voting rights is just as equal as yours through a wallet. 

Non-gamers ? Isn't the definition of a gamer is someone who plays games ? If anything there gamers right now because they have obviously played a game before. 

BTW the PS360 base does the same as well. They flock to the hottest products as well if you hadn't noticed.

Casual gamers purchase less things which means they want alot of bang for their buck compared to hardcore gamers who buys things like too human or nuke dukem forever LOL. It's that simple of a trend that anyone can understand. Hardcore gamers will buy just about anything and including what the reviewers deem as crap such as deadly premonition.  

Casual gamers = quality gamers Hardcore gamers = quantity gamers
