Forums - Nintendo - Platinum Games Creative Director is Fed Up With Bayonetta 2 port begging

The way Nintendo sees it all third party titles are a compliment to what they make. It makes no difference really. If fans respond to it then we have a game changer. This is about profitability for Platinum Games. Doesn't matter if it isn't for Nintendo.

Since Nintendo's footing the bill, they'll profit from every copy sold, without having to worry about recouping dev costs.

Likely Nintendo just pays them upfront, maybe with profit-sharing in there if and when Nintendo recoups their development costs.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Well, its simply the fact that those sony and MS gamers wont be able to play it on their respective consoles aint it? We want what we dont have. People didnt care about the game too much until it became a nintendo exclusive. Good on nintendo for rescuing it. Unfortunately, i dont know if it will sell much what with the low wii u sales (so far) and the fact that nintendo gamers dont ften support 3rd party games.

If the first game did make make money then why is it being developed for a dying platform such as the WII U ?!

LOL, Wii U isn't dying, it's just getting started.

You just don't know when to give up, eh curl ?

No sense in giving up when the biggest games are still to come and the system's still too expensive to be in the range of casual and lower income buyers.

You should be lucky that you guys have NSMBU otherwise the WII U would be crashing into the grounds of having sales as low as sub 10K for every week. Price really isn't a big issue if your console doesn't have the relevant games to begin with. Imagine this scenario, would the casual rather have a $400 console that has mario kart WII or would they rather have a console that is $200 with metroid prime 3 ? (Think about this really hard because I would rather the former than the later.)

The biggest game for the WII U is going to mario kart 8 no doubt but mario kart double dash didn't save the gamecube. I remain skeptical of mario kart 8's quality. Mario kart WII was probably one of the best racers I have enjoyed thus far. Double dash would be trash compared to it.

I guess people are still salty even if they don't want to admit it.

Edit: Also, this type of behavior is the reason why the videogame community will never be taken serously.

But the Wii U will (already does) have casual-friendly games. It's just outside their price range at present. ($250 seems to be their cutoff point, but $200 is the real comfort zone)

And Mario Kart and Smash did save the Gamecube; without them it likely  would have suffered the same fate as the Dreamcast.

Ehhh!? 2nd party, whatever. As a nintendo fan how well do you think this game (which is a more mature, sexualised, violent game than nintendo games traditionally are) will do. Based on my previous very limited experience of nintendo, I would say not great. It seems to me that a number of nintendo gamers (and this is only an impression) are interested in the game because it is Wii U exclusive and because that fact peeves off some PS and Xbox fanboys). That they arent actually pumped and hyped for the game itself.

What are your impressions and how well do you think it will do?

Casual friendly ?! Look casuals like myself also demand quality out of a game too. I will not buy a halfassed 2D mario unless nintendo is willing to commit to giving a greater attention towards it.

Save it ?! No silly, the gamecube was not saved at all. Merely the life of the gamecube was extended with it but nonetheless it was just as dead as the xbox. The same effect will be applied but this time likely to a lesser extent.

Software ALWAYS sells hardware and it's pretty clear that the quality of their software isn't up to par with what the WII had.

Do you agree with me that the WII had the better games compared to the WII U ?

NSMBU is no more "half-assed" than other NSMB games that did very well with the casual audience. Plus there's Lego City Undercover, Wii Party U, etc.

Gamecube was saved; it crossed 20 million, it made a profit. It wasn't discontinued like the Dreamcast. The definition of a dead system is a system that is no longer selling at all. GCN didn't die until after the Wii came out.

And of course Wii had better games than Wii U... so far.
