A lot of things "could have happened". Microsoft "could have" sold Halo to Sony. A meteorite "could have" fallen on your head before you could finish typing that comment. Bayonetta 1's performance didn't exactly inspire confidence, as Sega declined to publish #2. Games like Bayonetta generally don't get sequels.

And with third party support for Wii U very limited, I doubt Nintendo regret publishing it; it gives them one more exclusive to trumpet without having to divert one of their teams to make it.

The decision to publish this was made a long time ago, when they had different ideas of the Wii U performance. Once it is all said and done it may not turn out to be the best desicion they made.

Besides, the guy complaining about the begging may be looking back later on how many people wanted the game, when he finds out how many actually bought it.

Bayo's a niche game, Nintendo knew from the moment they acquired it that it would not set the charts alight. They purchased it to add a gory, sexy "hardcorez" title that was missing from their exclusive lineup, not with any expectation of the game itself selling millions.

And since Nintendo are paying for it, Platinum don't need to worry about how much it sells.

But this is not how it works. It's not enough to get paid for the game you make. You also need to make a profit from the sales so you can finance the development of your next game.

You know, like Nintendo is financing this game with the profits they made from the Wii.

With development costs covered, they'll make a profit even without record breaking numbers.

Nitnedo is the one who published the game! I don't eunderstand all teh p o rt begging :| I don't tihnk the game is going to be a huge system seeller anyway, but it's definitely something nice for Nintendo to have on their side

The fans should be lucky they're even getting it.

True but because of Nintendo they are going to be forced to buy a Wii U just to play it which I doubt many will.

Because of Nintendo they're getting the chance to play a sequel at all.

So let me see if I under stand something. It was ok for sega and plat to make the first bayonetta for ps360 and skip the wii which had twice the install base at that time yet somehow this is not ok to make it for wii u and skip 360/ps3? Sounds like a bunch of double standard cry babies running around in need of their moms tities for some dinner. Get over yourself. The game is going to sell like crap and that's perfectly fine with me I will buy it day 1 just to buy it. Hell I may not even play it but just to buy and support the developers. If you want to play it buy a wii u its cheap enough to do so. Hell you can buy them at some stores for under 200$ brand new which is crazy. Btw if you buy a Nintendo console Microsoft and Sony execs are not going to kidnapp your first born or kill your parents while they are sleeping. It's ok to buy a wii u and have a Sony or Microsoft console to.

How about porting Bayonetta 1 to WiiU ;(

Yeah I really think Nintendo missed a golden opportunity on that. Especially given the Wii U software drought. They should have had NST or someone port the first game to Wii U.

Bayonetta is a great game, but its not big enough to warrent chart busting sales for a console. Nintendo is taking a huge risk with a game that was never built on the foundation at Nintendo. It started with sales between Sony and Microsoft audiences. Whatever Nintendo fans pick up third party will be beyond niche.

Bayo 2 was never meant to sell gangbusters. Nintendo knew when they bought it that the franchise is not a rainmaker. They bought it to add a "hardcorez" game to their exclusive lineup, for the sake of diversity.

Does anyone actually care about it ?

About what? Bayonetta 2? Clearly some do,

I'm sincerely glad it isn't coming to BoneStation I'd make the same mistake buying 2 as I did with 1.

Bayonetta 2 is a largely irrelevant game. A third party game only matters if it can move consoles an I doubt bayonetta 2 will do the job. It's not gonna be as bad as wonderful 101 but still.

Bayonetta 2 is in no way irrelevant.

It's a third party game, maybe, but it is one that Nintendo funds and publishes, which means they reap ALL the profits from sales.

It will make itself back in both the sales and the platform awareness it generates, the magnitude of the latter being obvious.

Also "as bad as Wonderful 101" is kind of a moot statement. It too has made a profit from sales, and a helping drive awareness among core players.

ROFLMAO. Apparently someone hasn't being keeping up with development cost news. Wonderful 101 was 50% more expensive to make compared to bayonetta 1 which didn't even net in profit with roughly around 2 million coppies.

Development costs on 1 console, are not the same as development costs on 2 consoles. Something you haters are not able to grasp.

Also I have never read that the first game never made any money at all. Can you link some proof that it never turned a profit at all.
