Forums - Nintendo - Platinum Games Creative Director is Fed Up With Bayonetta 2 port begging

They should announce Bayonetta 3 for the Wii U just to rile them up even more. Get to financing it Nintendo. ;)

I can see this coming if the game sells well. I hope it does.

This is strange considering hardly anyone bought it on the ps360.

The problem is that Bayonetta is a unique case of a famous PS360 franchise switching sides and staying exclusive. It's not that easy to accept since Rayman and Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor Edge were ported quickly.

The problem is that Final Fantasy is a unique case of a famous NES/SNES-franchise switching sides and staying exclusive.

And yet, Ninja Gaiden 2 appeared on PS3, despite being "basically a Microsoft game, developed by Team Ninja, using a license from Tecmo". Just because something like this "doesn't make sense" doesn't mean it hasn't happened before.

when has Nintendo  ever sold their publishing rights for a game? if they didn't sell the Goldeneye 64 publishing rights to Rare/Microsoft, they sure as hell aren't selling the Bayonetta 2 rights.

Goldeneye 64 (Goldeneye 007) was remade for the Wii and was published by Activision. They gave up the publishing rights to "Goldeneye 007". Then, that game was ported to PS3 and 360 and called Goldeneye 007: Reloaded. Do you think it's just that impossible for the same to happen with B2? That a remade Bayonetta 2: "Complete Edition" isn't possible?

And don't have me pegged for a "port begger". I don't expect this game to come to PS3/4 or X1/360. Like I said in my original post, it will take a bunch of jumping through hoops to get this game there (either by PG getting bought out or signing on with another publisher), but also, like I said in my original post, a port is possible.

Actually, Goldeneye on Wii and PS3/360 has no relation to the N64 version. It's a completely different game built from scratch using the Call of Duty engine with completely different levels and content. The only thing that remains the same is the license, which Activision now own meaning they were able to create very similar scenarios.

The reason they called it Goldeneye really was to cash in on popularity that the completely different N64 game still holds with gamers now.

Platinum could very easily make another Bayonetta style game for PS3/4 and 360/ONE. But it wouldn't be Bayonetta 2.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

im not buying it, im sure some are complaining but he is making it bigger than it actually is. FF13? that was a shit storm

Maybe they should have thought about that before taking the decision. They should have expected that PS3/360 owners would be outraged. More than 1 year has passed and yet they don't share anything about their projects on other systems. No wonder people think PG completely turned their back on them.

Oh please. The majority of the people complaining didn't buy Bayonetta 1 and don't care about the game. They are just throwing a tantrum because Nintendo is getting Bayonetta 2. The game got cancelled for 360/PS3 because the people that are bitching now, didn't buy the original. In fact, the bulk of Bayonetta sales were of the dramatically inferior PS3 version. If Nintendo didn't pick it up off the scrap heap, it wouldn't be available. I always love when people talk about company's "turning their backs on fans". Despite Bayonetta not being a big enough financial success to warrant sequel, they managed to find a publisher to fund it's production. If these so called "fans" were actual fans they'd be thanking P* for getting the game funded.

As much as I hate to admit it, that's absolutely true. Most of the people throwing fits are fanatics who feel outraged that a "hardcore" title like Bayonetta is finding a home on a Nintendo console. The real fans of Bayonetta are just glad the game exists at all.

If you want the game so badly then pay $300 to play it. That's what Final Fantasy fans had to do in 1997, what Resident Evil fans had to do in 2002, what Banjo-Kazooie fans had to do in 2008. If you want to play all the games you need all the systems.

I don't blame the staff at Platinum at all for being frustrated.

To that, I say, QQ more. If people truly want to play the game, they'll figure out a way to play it whether they buy a Wii U or not, harassing the creator like little whinny bitch ass kids that deserve to get fucking smacked gets the result of a properly justifiable "fuck you" from him. If people can't be bothered with the game just because it's on a "Nintendo Platform" then they obviously don't truly give a flaming fuck about the game and just belong to the crowd that like to voice their worthless opinions on a "VIDEO GAME!"

The problem is that Bayonetta is a unique case of a famous PS360 franchise switching sides and staying exclusive. It's not that easy to accept since Rayman and Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor Edge were ported quickly.

And I still say, if somebody really wants to play the game that badly, they'll find ways to play it without buying a Wii U regardless, since no amount of bitching is going to change that situation. If the game not being on their choice of home console or not liking Nintendo is the reason they are not going to play the game, then they simply don't like the series enough and are not missing out on much.

It contradics the above statement, my objection is valid :p and btw I would gladly have a Bayonetta spinoff on PS4

WOW realy, i try to explain is simple terms. It was a game owned by TECMO.

Nintendo own Bayonetta 2 game now and forever, it will be always belong to Nintendo and Nintendo alone.

Sega owning the Bayonetta IP has no impact on this at all. It dosnt matter if Sega sell the IP or whoever owns it.

This is why the begging is so stupid.  I cant believe people are so stupid they still need these things explained in explicit details.

Yea, owned by Tecmo, published by Microsoft. Just how Bayonetta 2 is owned by Sega, published by Nintendo. Hate to break it to you, but Nintendo doesn't own Bayonetta 2, they are just funding it at the moment. I guess that's the real point that you're missing.  Just like how Microsoft didn't own Ninja Gaiden 2, they just funded the development. The situation is EXACTLY the same. I don't know how you don't understand it. There are no "explicit details" needed. Only reason it's only on Nintendo is because Nintendo is publishing it. If Sega wanted to publish it, they could, and put it wherever they want. Nintendo can't tell Sega what to do with their game, if Sega, at some point, wants to get involved. To say that Sega owning Bayonetta has no impact is tantamount to me saying "you may own that shirt, but you can't wear it"

Does Microsoft own Mass Effect 1? BioWare owned the IP, but that had no impact, right? Doesn't matter if they sell the IP or whoever owns it (EA now). It will always belong to Microsoft and Microsoft alone, right? Microsoft didn't need to own the IP, just that one game, right?

If you can't see how that situation and the one with B2 aren't identical, then you are just blind. And it's derailing the thread too. All I said was that it's possible, through some changes behind the scenes, for this game to go multiplat, however, to do so requires a lot of work and going multi may not be justified. So get a WiiU if you want to play it.

You are an idiot and confusing yourself with other completely different situations and making mess of it.

NINTENDO OWN THE GAME BAYONETTA 2 ENTIRELY IT WILL ONLY BE ON WHATEVER SYSTEM NINTENDO CHOOSE NOW AND FOREVER!

Sega own the Bayonetta IP not the Bayonetta 2 game.

Nintendo payed Sega to use the rights of Bayonetta on THEIR game and contracted Platinum to make it.
