Nintendo may have plans to bring SNES games to the Virtual Console on 3DS. While there isn’t any sort of concrete proof, accessing Miiverse from the handheld and checking out the Contra III: The Alien Wars community shows the game running on a 3DS XL in the header. No SNES titles are currently available on 3DS (including Contra III), so this is an interesting finding for sure.

Awesome, if true! Now all we need are some rare and pricey games to show up so I don't have to get gouged on eBay. Earthbound was a great start.

I'd love some GBA games on 3DS also.

I'm thinking Nintendo's plans are to make VC platform independent. Meaning, you buy one on 3DS and you can also play in on Wii U and likewise.

If you notice, Wii U was promised GBA games, yet none exist yet. and the NES games available on both platforms mostly are identical.

Now that NNIDs are on both systems, I'm hoping they begin showing their single account system hands by linking these types of titles across both systems. Makes the most sense and dramatically increases their value.

put Super Metroid on there so i can have the complete 2D Metroid Quadrilogy on my 3DS. already got 1,2 and 4/Fusion.

also, didn't they confirm that SNES games will hit the 3DS eventually?

Great news, lots of SNES games i would love to play again on the go with my 3DS, i also hope SEGA add to their 3D Megadrive games collection on 3DS. (Preferably Streets of Rage 2 & Revenge of Shinobi)

I don't give a flying crap, give me GBA games instead. We have SNES games on the consoles (to a certain extent anyways).
