Forums - Sales - How is PS4 greater than Xbox One by 500k in US??

the problem lies in did MS actually outsell the ps4 on Black Friday, my problem is with the fact that its a anylst making a assumption using a formula to figure the numbers out based on polling and people voluntarily using a app to show thier receipts.  theres been no official word on it from a known source like NPD, just a new company using a formula to come to that conclusion, now the XB1 may have very well outsold the ps4 who am i to say it didnt.

To the answer your question. It's due to the power of the cloud. People tends to stay home on a "cloudy" day. Ok I know it's a bad joke.
Seriously I yhink due to two factors
1) price difference
2) early bad PR by Microsoft.

Xbox one outsold the ps4 on Black Friday because there were no more ps4 to be sold. Simple and common sense.

We don't know anything, essentially.

Xbox One sold more than 1m in less than 24 hours. However.

It may have just pipped 1m WW, meaning a 700k/300k breakdown WW, 650k going to US. Black Friday may have had very limited stock, we still don't have any figures so we don't know.

On the flip side, maybe Xbox One sold well over 1m in its first day when all was said and done, something like 1.3m. a 900k/400k split WW, with 800k in US. Maybe it had decent enough stock on Black Friday, 300 - 500k.

Or, maybe it's somewhere between the two. You'll find out Thursday but until then, nobody has a clue, not pachter, not VGC, not GAF and not you or I.

why what's thursday?

We don't know, wait until Thursday......

Both sold a shit-ton.

The Xbox One is a $100 more and is sold out almost everywhere.....I was lucky to snag my budy one on Amazon.....

SUPPLY IS KING....

win.....win for gamers.......

I doubt the gap is 500K, unless VGC is massively underestimating launch week sales outside of the USA and that Europe in particular got about 500K sales, not 330K; which is possible given the the UK's confirmed 150K launch for Xb one.

We know >1 million for launch week and 150K for UK, and 66K for Aussie, but how the rest of the ~800K is distributed is not precisely known.

Pick your poison:

1. Pachter undertracked Xbox one
2. Vgchartz overtracked Xbox one
3. Microsoft lied about its sell through numbers.

Doesn't pachter have like, pro NPD account so he gets sales on the fly?

I'm not saying Pachter is right but the VGC numbers are clearly wrong.

UK + AUS = ~210k at launch

I have a hard time to believe Gemarny + France + other few EU countries did only 120k... they did more like 400k mininum. That's give us 600k for NA + LA... maybe 500k for US.

Now you get that 500k for US and add how much you think Xbone sold over 1 million... plus add how much did you thin Xbone sold in BF.

Yeap... 750k seems reasonable... Pachter can be wrong like the NPD shows 800k or 850k in any way VGC is 200k off mininum... I think Pachter is more close than VGC to real number.

BTW 1.25m for PS4 seems right for both Pachter and VGC... they agree with this number... easy because Sony give us them.

I'm more confused by his Wii U numbers, clearly whatever methodology he's using overall is completely wrong going off that alone.

That said, we know according to Sony they sold 2.1 million PS4s by Dec 1st, with 700k of those going to Europe, leaving 1.4 million for total NA PS4 sales for November. If Pachter's half a million PS4 advantage in NA assertion is true (and it's not), that would mean the One sold 900k in November in NA.

Didn't Microsoft themselves admit the split for the over a million day one sales = 700k or 750k for North America? That would mean they only sold 150k - 200k on black friday, which wouldn't make any fucking sense for a variety of reasons.

Sony has a 300k advantage in North America for the month of November absolute tops, I guarantee it. Wouldn't be surprised if it's closer to only 200k, actually.
