Patchers prediction is just a big joke. Just like his prediction was in September for the wiiU where he was 50% off. Anyone who thinks wiiU did less then 200k in November are kidding themselves. 

NPD will be indeed interesting. 

Hmm, hard to say. US is the biggest market, I'm thinking it should be able to average at least 80k there for the rest if the year, depends on November NPD I guess.
I think it will manage that million, I'm more curious to see how much it could climb over 3 million for the calendar year, if at all. Currently at just about 2.2 so far.
If it ends up right around 3 million I'm gonna have to have a word with our mascot here;

My "imaginary number" is probably very, very close to the truth, especially considering a likely adjustment down both in Europe and America after new year's. Hell, it could under 3 million for the year when all is said and done (and adjusted).

Just a real shame to see suckers fall for this inferior machine. All this to play Nintendo games? It virtually has no third party support. The PS3/360 can play family games, there are plenty of options to competition.

No one should be a Wii U, no one. Not families, not adults with a serious interest in games. Only Nintendo fanboys should buy it.

This machine shouldn't even exist.

The point is, Pachter is a PR machine, not a real analyst, when it comes to the gaming industry... or at least, anything he announces publicly is not real analysis (perhaps he's saying something different in his actual analysis job, where he's paid by companies to analyse for them - he's not going to release any real analysis publicly).

If we take the VGChartz number for the month, then the Wii U needs to sell about 350k in December - a feat that should be easily accomplished, in my opinion, since it did more than half of that in the last week of November alone, according to VGChartz, and Nintendo systems typically do better in December than November (not counting launch numbers, which work differently).

Isn't Wii U doing worse than Dreamcast? 1m for this year is a bit too much.

I don't think so, but it's close either way.

Regardless, such comparisons are silly anyway, because it's not going to continue selling like the DC anyway.
