I am curious about the last generation, Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360, of how many units there will have been sold for each one then all goes out of production.
I tried to research this a bit and found out that Nintendo had discontinued the Wii in Europe and Asia, but is still on sale for the NA market. About the Xbox 360 I found no actual statement about production but that they will support developers until 2017. For PS3 it would be in production until 2015.
Wii is still on sale in North America for some time.
Xbox 360 is still on sale in all regions and could be until 2017.
PS3 is still on sale in all regions until 2015.
As of today they have sold as followed:
Wii - 100 million
X360 - 80 million
PS3 - 81 million
(If the years or any info is not correct please let me know and I will update it.)
So, how much do you expect each to have sold when all of them has gone out of production? When exactly this will happen we can not know for sure, the PS2 lived on for a very long time and it seems like both Microsoft and Sony plan to have theirs in production for as long as possible.
