This is the first time Nintendo has announced a games at the VMAs. Nintendo obviously thinks this game is the biggest one that will be released next year.

When did Nintendo state that? Are you making things up? Obviously SSB is bigger than DK and to top it off MK8 is the biggst game coming out next year

Nintendo must of felt Donkey Kong was bigger because that is what they showed. Or maybe they are just delusional. Or maybe Reggie just likes Donkey Kong.

Or maybe Its because DKC is the first big exclusive releasing for Wii U in 2014

This thread is as bad as Nintendo presentation.
I don't think anybody, even Nintendo, stated with actions or words that DK will save Wii U.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Is toastboy guys. toastboy. Give him some slack

Obvious sarcasm is obvious.

it won't turn tables but it's a respectable addition to WiiU library?

just look at DK Wii sales, about 6m!!

that game released on a system that was already well established and was selling great for a while, I never understood these comparisons because they made little sense. DKC for WIi sold well because alot of people had Wiis.  A lot of people dont have Wii Us and i dont forsee that changing just to play some more of the same.

DK64 sold over 5m on an instsll base of 33m and DKC 1-3 on SNES averaged 5-6m on an install base of 49m. Donkey Kong sells pretty consistantly no matter how well the console does. If Wii U only ends up with Gamecube level sales than DKC will still likely sell 4m or so. This game wont "save" Wii U but it will help sales from plummeting back to 20-30k/week early next year and will help build an overall better library for Wii U.

Nope.

That i can agree with. I was simply stating most DK games are NOT release this early in a consoles life. I dont expect to see it move alot of HW intiially, but that doesnt mean i dont expect it sell like any other DK game.

Ur right DK on SNES, N64 and Wii released about 2 years before the consoles successor released. Does that mean Wii U is getting a successor in 2016?

While I have accepted that Wii U will end in a distant 3rd place, I believe the combo of Donkey Kong, Mario Kart and possibly Smash Bros all in the first half of next year should give it a pretty significant YOY increase and if they can continue releasing compelling software in a timely manner than Wii U will be fine for the next few years.

the wii u is already save
