Never said Zelda would be there. Retro is the closest to America. Donkey Kong will come out in two months. It made sense yet people choose to ignore logic and go into the hype.

People actually watch these?   Last I checked nobody spoke english on those.

Reggie wearing tons of Zelda clothes recently, Geoff retweeting a picture of the mastersword, Anouma wanting to announce the game at E3 and Comic-Con and then suddenly Reggie has an announcement to make at VGX.
