So they should bundle it with the gamepad, causing the total price to be $100+ and likely losing money on each game sold? Plus as of now the Wii U only supports 1 gamepad, so we'd be paying extra money for useless hardware.

the gamepad is already "free". And we don't know if MK8 will use 2 gamepads

Uh no, gamepads do not grow on trees lol. Even if they sell the bundle for $60, it will cost Nintendo more than that to make each one. Same issue with the Wii U itself. But yeah we don't know if they'll enable dual gamepad support by the time MK8 releases, so we'll just have to wait and see on that one.
