Forums - Gaming - Destructoid: Gran Turismo 6 vs Forza 5

"Again, you can't go wrong with either. I'm really glad I have both.  I think of Forza 5 when I want to race, while I think of GT6 when I want to drive. That's what it really comes down to for me. I go to Forza for the flash and spectacle, I go to Gran Turismo when I want to play in an automotive toy box. Hopefully that makes sense to you.

But, if I had to pick one racing game to take to a desert island to play for the rest of my life, it would be Gran Turismo 6."

7-3 in GTs favor, he should be honest and not pander to fanboys and just bruttaly say he prefers Gt its better get over it

load times are better but id kill for PS4 speed in a Gt game.

I hope O4 will at least get a GT7 prologue.

It wasn't even close. Forza won in graphics (obvious) and AI (again obvious considering it's on a next gen console). GT6 wins in every other category. I'm not saying Forza 5 looks bad, but Gran Turismo is still the king.

Interesting article. Like I said in the other thread, Dale North is one of the people I most trust when it comes to racing sim reviews. If he's a fanboy, it's of both Forza and Gran Turismo.

Basically, it really seemed to be about Forza 5 being a product that was rushed out for launch. It makes me feel bad for Turn 10.

What caught my attention was this: "If you're a casual racing fan, you may not enjoy the two laps at 75 MPH in a budget hatchback that you have to get through early on in GT6. But, for me, I want to work through it all. And there's so much more to do in GT6 with its weather races, endurance tests, mini challenges, coffee breaks and more."

That's me. I want that meta-game. I want to work my way up, I want to win the Sunday Cup before I run Nürburgring in a full-blown race car.

I like the colectionism aspect of the Gran Turismo series.

Well if you want to run the Nurb in any car, I think that narrows down your options a little 8)

No Nürburgring in Forza 5?

Ah.  Well, that makes things quite a bit easier.

there is the nurb in forza 5

you have to play it with imagination

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

I'm not sure AI is a straight win for Forza 5

Winning because your opponents drive straight into a wall doesn't feel very good either.

How does this even happen?

I did notice that the AI is GT6 is more aggresive now, yet still behaving like real drivers.

When I want to race aggressively I'll play NFS: rivals. lvl 43 racer / lvl 20 cop so far, great racing game.

At least, a reviewer that doesn't focus exclusively on GT6 negative points. Don't get me wrong, AI and sound are very important things in a racing game, but the number and variety of cars (despite the criticism of the number of nissan and honda, there is still much more cars on gt6 than forza 5), number and fidelity of circuits (again more than forza 5 and usually recreated more realitically), and the realism in driving (the new physics engine is fantastic and it's really and improvement) are very important too and most reviewers are not appreciating the effort made by PD enough.

I will admit that GT needs some new fresh air in career mode, the IA needs to be better to make a career mode more fun and better sound effects will be well received too. All of this problems should have been corrected by now, despite all of this, GT6 is a 8'5 game at least for me and i will spend a lot hours playing it.
