Because it is not just the wii U. It is the only way to get these games. You cannot just go to another system and get Mario! You can get any of the Vita's games on another system eventually. Nintendo will just wait and try with another system. That means Nintendo gamers will have to wait.

Well... Mario Kart and Smash will keep people interested. Remember the year after 2010 for the Wii? We had nothing more or less until Zelda Skyward Sword at the end of the year. Or after the 3DS's first Christmas when we had nothing as well hardly.

The Wii U actually has some really big games early on, and that is not including what nintendo will throw at us the rest of the year. So yes, I agree that there will be some trying times still, but not as bad as last year, and if they can keep that going thoughout the year, should mean a full scale "3DS like turnaround' by next Christmas.

If.... World is full of "Ifs".

No. Never happening, audience isn't remotely there. Long gone.

Well, people are pretty much interested in anything at the right price.  You can "sell" shit in a brown bag if it's free.

That being said, I think Nintendo needs to (needed to?) bite the bullet and lower the price of the system to 250.  Maybe even too late for that now, although Mario Kart and a price drop bundle could sell like crazy.  But they probably won't do that until NEXT holiday.

Its not possible to get 3DS like turn with Wii U, because of competiton and 3rd party support. People might buy Wii U for nintendo games and it might sell more units but not gonna buy 3rd party games even if it comes due to inferior version.



GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

Thanks for this.

So, it could be selling a lot more right now with simple stock management. Reggie should be fired, that's basically NoA's reason to exist.

And once this is fixed it'll be Jan/Feb and demand will be too low to matter.

If the Wii U sells at least 5 million a year for the rest of it's ( hopefully) 5 year life cycle, it will have easily outsold the Gamecube. So a slow decrease in price to 100 dollars or less is not off the table yet. The original Wii was 89 dollars last year at BF. The Wii U can still go that low. They can even do something in the middle of next year if need be. Down to 249.99.

Selling ok now, and saving the price decrease till Summer may have been worth it for them. Then have a 2014 BF deal for 20 dollars off or something.

 

We will see.....Seece....but they keep the amazing games coming, people's attention will have been....gotten.

Amazing Nintendo franchises? That isn't going to turn peoples heads. Nintendo fans yes, outside of that no.

Electronic department managers at any store ( minus Gamestop and maybe Bestbuy) seem to know very little about games in general. So how would they know what the demand is for certain systems. They will order it, but how much should they order?

I am agreeing. Reggie should be out there with CEO's or whoever he talks to, telling them that demand is up. Selling it! But we have to give him some credit. Have you seen Vita's shelf space in most places? Then look at Wii U's space. Some how he has kept it going and the Wii U has stayed alive because retailers did not dump it's space. Although I give some credit to the Wii for staying kind of relevant. If it's space would have been cut, then the Wii U's would have a well I think.

Plus the 3DS still has two booths in most Walmarts. Target has a nice set up, but will have to do some mixing soon as well, along with Meijer and other retailers it seems. Lots of systems out right now as I have said.

Those CEO's have full access to NPD, Charttrack, Mediacreate ect, they don't need Reggie to come and tell them what sales they have.

On top of a small userbase, weak gains (sales are up a paltry amount for the holiday season), third party games typically just don't sell well on WiiU. COD and AC are down YOY for instance.

Yeah people would probably blame the stores but at least for the big retailers, Nintendo should have staff devoted to this kind of messaging.

The obvious/fast solution is to recall the Deluxe models like they did with Basic.

Something similar is happening in my country. The stores still have a few original deluxe bundles and even 1 or 2 ZombiU bundles, and they want to bring the new one (specially the Mario one) with the new price, but they don't want to sell their existing inventory at reduced prices, so they are stuck, can't move the old ones and can't get the new ones.

Some grey market retailers were likely with the same issue, but made a drastic choice, they started to sell the deluxe bundle at cost to eliminate their inventory and bring the new models for the holiday; since that change, I have 4 different friends buy their console (original deluxe) at a a very competitive price (330 U$) instead of the usual 400 U$ that cost in the grey market of my country, and way bellow the 500 U$ price asked in the oficial stores.

Yeah, you can't get exclusives that are on one console that aren't on another.  It's a reason to not be tied down to one console.  The Wii U isn't doing well and it'll never be doing as good as you're hoping for it to be.  So there's a reason to own it for first party and a small amount of good third party exclusives, the same as their being a reason to own the Wii with its first party and third party exclusives.

It's clear some Nintendo fans play third party games because they make statements of how they'll get the games for the Wii U, but not enough do.  The reason for the lack of third party software.  With all the complaints I see on here that third party isn't supporting the Wii U, just get another console.  Purchase exclusives for your Wii U, purchase multiconsole games that aren't on your Wii U on the other console.

I own a 3DS and Vita and will own a Wii U and PS4.  While it might be disappointing when a game I'm interested in comes out for the 3DS instead of the Vita which I prefer, doesn't matter much because either way I'll still be able to play it.

As for the Mario Kart and Smash Bros going to boost Wii U sales and start selling like the 3DS did, that's what you guys said about every other Nintendo exclusive that has released since launch.  There will b e a sales spike and then it'll drop back down.  I'll be one of those sales when Super Smash Bros launches.
