Forums - Gaming - EDIT: Forza is still the king of 7th gen racing! (according to Metacritic)

Tagged games:

As an active car racing fan, I'm a bit disappointed in GT6, but Forza Motorsport 3 was a quality race game. Definately my favorite to date, with GT5 a close second (have yet to play GT6)

Forza 4 was terrible though, free upgrades, made the game boring.

Microsoft smoked sony last gen when it came to exclusive racers.

If you like your racers, the was no better place to be than on a 360.

Forza 2, 3, 4 & Horizon, plus Project Gotham Racing 3 & 4 ALL scored higher than any GT, Supercar Challenge, Motorstorm etc.

Driving enthusiasts disagree, clearly. The reviewers simply do not represent the driving community. And why would they? I mean, driving sims are probably some of the least "gamey" games out there, so game reviewers should mostly not be fit to review them.

But alas, GT is a video game, available for a video game console, and is therefore bound to certain criteria.

Being more boring and grinding then Forza will reflect in its scores.

Um the sales show clearly many don't find it boring. Gt is about the drive, not the race. Some reviews/people don't get that. You saying it si more boring doesn't make it so.

The fact remains, that since GT3, the GT series has seen a fairly steep decline in it's scores.

I'm not knocking GT for the sake of it, hell, i will go on record now and say that GT3 for me is better than ANY Forza (it narrowly beats Forza 3, but has the rest well beaten IMO)

But i think it's true what a lot of people have started to say, GT is still getting strong sales purely based on the MASSIVE following it got during it's ps1/ps2 heyday.

Forza games since Forza 4 has seen a decline in scores too and i must say a decline in sales as well.

They where a bit too easy to get but it didn't make the game borig I rather spend my in game credits on more cars then extra parts.

Is this Metacritic thing your god or something?

Yes.

But seriously, I assumed GT6 was going to get a much better metascore and that would lead to boasting. But thus far, that doesn't seem to be the case. Which is good.

You can boast when the series continues to greatly outsell Forza. ;)

Honestly, yes. I didn't think it would, but it's clear that the effort put into GT6 is less than Forza 5 and the gap in quality is starting to grow.

I still hope it sells gangbusters, as a Sony fan that wants success for my platforms... But the score seems well deserved and hopefully sends a signal to PD for GT7.

Yes much effort gone into forza5

no cars no tracks no weather no rally.

so... what exactly did all the effert go into ????

*Insert comment about Mario Kart sales here.*

*Insert comment about GT series being massively bundled here*

For the record, I'm only responding right now because I'm waiting on a massive update for GT6.

That argument holds zero weight considering how heavily forza and mario kart are bundled. GT is a sales beast period.

Less effort?

They have half the team size yet

GT6: 33 track locations of which 7 new, Forza 5 14 track locations of which 5 new
GT6: 1200 cars of which 200 new, Forza 5 200 cars total
GT6: 24 track locations with weather and/or day night cycles, Forza 5: 0

Both have a new driving model, updated graphics, AI and other tweaks.

Anyway yes the 9 from Eurogamer is well deserved. (didn't read any other reviews yet)

lol I wonder how many here have actually played both franchise.

And have ever driven a fast car to have any sort of frame of reference to which game is has better driving relism and physics.
