I don't think it has much to do with loyalty -- tons of PS2 owners went running to the XBox 360.

The reason why 360 owners are split on the PS4/XB1 is because the PS4 is a $100 cheaper.

That's a huge factor. Why pay $100 more to play Destiny, COD, Battlefield, Madden, etc? They basically have the same games that people want, MS is asking for $100 more for the Kinect camera, that's a big difference. 

When you're asking for more than $399.99 for a game console, you're getting into that uncomfortable "PS3 territory". 

Kind of ironic considering that a good chunk of PlayStation fans are former Ninty / SEGA fans who jumped ship during the PS1 & 2 eras for greener pastures.

Shouldn't the conclusion of that survey be that people aren't going to buy a console anymore?

Gamers don't tend to be loyal to a certain console, there are exceptions like the hardcore fans, but most don't and just go to whoever is offering the best experience for them for the best price.
