Forums - Gaming - IGN ''What Sony's '4.2 Million PS4s Sold' Figure Actually Means"

Rogerioandrade said:

Another unprofessional and biased IGN article with either incorrect or manipulated data.

Where are the holiday sales? Where are the handheld sales?

Why they say the Wiiu sold 2 million on its first weeks when official data points 3,08 million auntil Dec,13,2012 (5.5 weeks)

Why trying so hard to make XboxOne sales seems bad when actually they were pretty good?

IGN can´t be taken seriously anymore, I give up reading IGN long time ago.

You are completely wrong. I know IGN are really bad with this kind of analysis but you really doesn't understand everything here.

1: it is about home consoles. What's wrong with it?...

2: Nintendo shipped 3.06m Wii U as of Dec, 31st, 2012. It was clearly overshipped in the WHOLE Europe. Even in France where the players buy a lot of Nintendo stuff, they shipped 240K in 2012 and sold less then 50% of it with 118K (so 122K in stock). 2.2m as VGC shows is a nice estimate, IGN might be slightly understimating it with 2m but it's still not a "bad" estimation.

Prediction: End of 2015 Hardware sales (as of January 20, 2015)

Wii U: 12.1M | XBO: 19.8M | PS4: 36.0M | 3DS: 58.5M | PSV: 11.7M

This time the numbers use it for marketing. And you believe...thanks Sony for the joke

2 million Wii U sales in 6 weeks

3 million Bones in 5.5 weeks.

Seems fairly reasonable to assume the rates of sale will continue to be higher for X1.

In the Wii U's first 6 weeks, it sold 3.06 million consoles from Nov 18 2012 to Dec 31 2012. Some IGN writers like to skew numbers on purpose. Also as a few days ago, Microsoft confirmed that the XB1 sold 3 million.

If you do not show a reliable source this will convince me of nothing.

Genius figure.

I think it's because of the post about rumour of MS saying over 3M when they sold 2.8~2.9... don't pay much attention.

It's like they tried to make PS4 look better. They should have waited until Q3 results to fairly compare it. There's a 3 month difference in the Wii U and PS4's updates for f**ks sake!

There's not! They're comparing the comparative periods these consoles were sold on the market and not 6 weeks vs LTD, like you are trying.

There most be a 3 month in favour of PS4, don't you know it got sold through even before start of manufacturing?

I expect to see a lot more denial from various brand fans in the coming months, mostly likely followed by dead silence when reality finally sets in.

Wait and see...
