Forums - Gaming - 10 Reasons I’d Pick the Wii U over the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Today

I seriously doubt anyone in the market for either an XB1 or PS4 has any consideration for the Wii U as a potential substitute.

It's been out for a year, the games that were announced are currently being released. Either you buy Nintendo consoles to play their IPs or you don't. As it currently stands, there isn't a single exclusive third party game on the Wii U that I would buy a $300 console for.

But, as some have been saying, opinions are opinions. Presenting them matter of fact doesn't make them so.

Around the Network

1. Because it has the games you want to play now.
2. And it’ll have the games you want to play next year.

Who is this man and why does he think he can speak for me?

7: Cheaper on balance? What does that even mean? Games are mostly the same price (59.99), and they tend to remain at full price for much longer than on the competing consoles.

8: Sony has PSN, XBox has its marketplace. What's your point?

9: But it pales greatly in comparison to the other consoles.

7. Don't know what the hell that means.

8. Maybe he meant virtual console?

9. Never messed around online on my Wii U to know if that is true or not. But if they are comparing it to the Xbone and PS4 right now, Wii U probably does have a better lineup of indie titles.

1. Because it has the games you want to play now.- I wanted to play Resogun, Killzone and Knack.

2. And it’ll have the games you want to play next year.- So will my PS4

3. The Wii U GamePad is a portable console.- Only up to a small range. No taking it on the go.

4. It’s just $300 — $100 less than the PS4 and $200 less than the Xbox One.- Yes, but it's losing more than $100.00 worth of features and third party support.

5. There’s no annual subscription fee.- This is true, but you also don't get tons of free games to play. I pay $40.00 and get tons and tons of games. That's worth it to me.

6. Its High Def enough.- This is an opinion. Other's like myself wouldn't agree.

7. Wii U games are cheaper on balance.- Full priced games are the same price. Not only that, Nintendo games will NOT go down in price for YEARS, unlike MS and PS exclusives.

8. Nintendo has the eShop. Sony and Microsoft have nada. - MS and PS don't have a shop to download new and old games? What?

9. It has a decent indie lineup, too.- Again, an opinion. It certainly won't have even half the amount that the other two will have.

10. It’s more than just a game system. (TV, remote integration)- That's all it has where as the other two have a whole lot more, period.

So basically, again...if someone wants a Nintendo machine, the Wii-U is great. Outside of that demograph, not so much. I still like Nintendo, but I just couldn't force myself to spend that much money on something that pretty much only plays Nintendo exclusives. I like too many genre's and too many third party games. I also needed a Blu-Ray player, and I love having the ability to listen to CD's (coming in an update) and watch my huge collection of DVDs all in one box. Plus, all of those games for a tiny little yearly fee? Win and win.

Hopefully Nintendo brings the hurt with their next console because I'd buy it day one if it did everything the PS4 is going to do.

So what's the reason you didn't pick one up then?

I agree with this whole post, all the points he made in the article are really grasping for straws.

Only #2 and #!0

Ten reasons:
1. Because it has the games you want to play now.
Subjective, and the Xbox One has games I want to play now.

2. And it’ll have the games you want to play next year.
Subjective, and the Xbox One has games I want to play next year.

3. The Wii U GamePad is a portable console.
LOL no.

4. It’s just $300 — $100 less than the PS4 and $200 less than the Xbox One.
Basing your choice on buying a WiiU on how much it costs vs competition is very foolish.

5. There’s no annual subscription fee.
No bother to me, is for some though.

6. Its High Def enough.
Agree, but will it be in 3 years time?

7. Wii U games are cheaper on balance.
Are they? 0_o

8. Nintendo has the eShop. Sony and Microsoft have nada.
Not sure if serious?

9. It has a decent indie lineup, too.
So does PS4, and Xbox One early next year.

10. It’s more than just a game system. (TV, remote integration)
So are the others, far more in fact than WiiU.

Pretty much all the reasoning is weeeeeeeak.

Should be

1. Nintendo franchises.

Nintendo needs some new IPs. They have these core ips that they spin out and rely on each generation, but that only attracts the people that were already fans of those games. If they want to grow their business, they need to make some new games!

Wow. I'm new here so I don't know if your really serious with that post or not. In any case, good luck with that.
