Forums - Gaming - Why are some Sony fans so opposed to 3DS development?

Personally, I'm not exactly opposed to Sony developing games for the 3DS, I just don't want to lose my lovely Vita. If the 3DS hardware was better, though, then that would be kind of awesome. It would be even better if Nintendo and Sony could partner for a P-DS device. That would be a monster.

If they end up doing that, I hope they give it a better name.

OT: Can I make one about Microsoft now?!

Even after not making much profit off of its game division in the past decade? If it weren't for Sony's PS3 missteps, I don't think we'd be having this conversation.

If they aren't profitting, it's because they're spending so much money. But I think their strategy is finally starting to pay off. Hardly any of Microsoft's game division revenue comes from actual first-party game sales. Most of it probably comes from Live adspace and licensing fees.

I'm not convinced that MS will keep up the momentum, because the competition is tougher this time around.

6 - I don't want live in a world with no dedicated handheld gaming competition, if there's no competition they will get lazy and develop us mostly cheap stuf

Gameboy, GBC, and Gameboy Advance would like to have a word with you :P

They had the SEGA handheld competition, if they didn't you would still be playing black & white games.

GBA?

N-Gage... So you really think the company would benefit itself with a Monopoly?

when did i say they'd benifit from a monopoly? all i'm saying is that their quality wouldn't drop whatsoever.

This answer never really made sense. I just see it as a leeway out of giving an actual reason.

Do you not think that consumers are smart enough to distinguish between what's crap and what isn't? After awhile of getting crap served to them, the consumers would stop buying and, in turn, the company would have to start serving quality again.

Fair enough. We'll see how that goes. I just don't think they have much to gain from going third-party... not like they have a lot of huge franchises. Halo and Forza are big, Kinect is tied to their hardware by necessity... that's about it, right?

I keep my words, no competition no need to spend on improvement,

OFF TOPIC... are you from Russia or Cuba?

Sony would need to start supporting Vita before they can stop supporting it, silly.

since when cheap = crap?

What I mean is that they would maximise profit and make less investments since they already got 100% of the marketshare

With the competition Sony VS Nintendo, Nintendo would make everything they can to make their product more appealing, like paying for exclusivity with Capcom's Monster Hunter and investing their money on making new games

Sony shouldn't go third party.
Nintendo shouldn't go third party.
Microsoft shouldn't go third party.

They all have their unique IP's and gaming devices. Deal with it. If you want their exclusive games so bad, go buy their console.
