Today Sony Computer Entertainment announced that it has sold 2.1 million units of the PS4 from launch to December the 1st, but the house of PlayStation has more numbers to share.

The “Share” button on the DualShock 4 controller proved to be particularly well received by new owners of the console, that used the ability to share screenshots on Twitter and Facebook and video on Ustream and Twitch.TV a whole lot. According to a press release sent by Sony the “Share” feature has been used more than 6.5 million times.

After all, we’re living more and more on a social media-dominated, shared world, so it’s not too surprising to see this kind of feature becoming popular between gamers.

It is a really awesome feature to have on consoles.

Just in my friends activity feed alone, in 2 days theres 58 videos posted. That's just my 52 friends on Xbox Live.

Really really like this feature about the new consoles. I want to make a review with it with some more time in Upload studio with picture in picture and voice overs.

I take screenshots all the time with the share button.

I've never owned a gameplay capture device, so watching my own gameplay was such a surreal experience. Love it.

I hope they add some sort of editing software in a future update. Sometimes I've wanted to just keep a short section of gameplay. It would save HDD space aswell.

I genuinely assumed you could edit on PS4. 

I can edit on Xbox One. I can add picture in picture of me explaining things, Or even splice together 5 different videos. Then upload and save. I can add different openings to the video also.

You can edit cutting videos, you put the start and the end of the video, you cut it, and then you upload it.

off topic: Ey, Selnor, for curiosity, in Ps4 we have the share button, but how it works on Xbox One?

It's a really great feature. Now I just need to remember it's there.

I always remember 5 minutes after I've turned off my console.
