Forums - Gaming - Why are some Nintendo fans so opposed to going third party?

the idea of a Nintendo phone is a bad one, Nintendo's having a hard enough time supporting 2 as is.
however, a 3DSPhone, which would be to the 3DS what the iPhone is to the iPod Touch, would be a day 1 buy for me.

Yeah because everyone seems to think the Wii U gamepad improves gameplay, and Uncharted showed no improvements of Jak and Daxter... /s x5000

Because they want to stay in their community nothing more.

Most of Wii U games do nothing that PS4 games cant but PS4 games do many things Wii U games cant.

So Wii U games would be better on PS4.

Nintendo should go 3rd party on home consoles

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

they make reliable consoles.

Look at the gamecube as an example. May look like a lunchbox but drop that mfker from 20feet and it still works,

Agreed. I dropped my GameCube twice today, within two minutes, and it's still perfectly fine.

Sega isn't in that bad of shape financially. Have you seen all the buyouts they have been doing? They were the first ones to the scene when Atlus and THQ sold their stuff. Yet we still are getting stuff like Sonic Lost World. Although I will admit that may be because Sega decided to halt development at half finished because of Wii U software sales.

Doubtful. Don't the problems extend to the 3DS version as well? I think it's just typical for Sonic games in this day and age, two steps forward and one step back: fix some problems and create others in the process.

Granted, i'm not playing it until Christmas, so i can't say.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Those worried about unique hardware. Nintendo could easily push successful peripherals with their name brand.

Nintendo would be boss at being third party. Of course they can keep their dominant handheld market. Nintendo needs to strike a deal with Disney and put a Mario tv show on.

They would need to get a license to launch peripherals for them, though.

And, as Eurogamer has proved with the PS4+Vita vs WiiU+GamePad comparison, some peripherals must be planned during the design of a console to work as they should.

WiiU gamepad has not moved consoles and most people wish Ninty would release the console without it.  However the Wiimote and WiiFit could have easily been put on PS3 and 360.

If Ninty moved to third party in the home console market it is believable they could have some say in future hardware development.  Especially if they are offering to bring something like the Wiimote to the console.

I am sad that the hardcore Ninty fans are putting Ninty on the same shelf as Sega and Atari.   Nintendo would surely not fail like those companies did if they went third party.   Ninty would be a huge as a publisher/developer, their success would rival the likes of Take Two and Activision but would carry the prestige of studios like Naughty Dog.   It is sad that people believe the only reason ninty developers care about quality is because they are making console exclusives.  I think they care about quality because they care about quality.  There is no reason to believe they would be any different from Rock*.

The Wiimote and Balance Board used Blutooth to "talk" with the console. I think the PS3 had it (not sure) but the 360 didn't. That would mean that the wiimote could have been possible on MSoft's console.

And if you think Sony or MSoft would allow a third party, and former competitor, to take part into the development of its console besides the usual "is this enough RAM for you?" kind of feedback, then you're in for disappointment.

And people compare the situation with SEGA because before exiting the hardware market they also were very talented and made excellent games, and many thought they would become big players too once they become a third party. And look what happened.

Please excuse my bad English.

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

lower entry price point is good for a lot of people, and they are the only company that can carry their own consoles with their own games, I honestly haven't seen another console maker able to do that.

Purple is a Ninty fan?!? That's news to me. I don't think I've ever seen you post something positive about Wii U or Ninty.

I like Nintendo consoles because they try different things. I love the gamepad, more so than the Wiimote and nunchuk. Nintendo games would probably sell great on other consoles, but that would mean the end of Ninty consoles.

I much prefer the gaming environment with them making consoles and bringing lots of innovation to the table.
