Forums - Nintendo - Are Nintendo fans showing a lack of faith in the Wii U?

Mario Kart. Smash. Zelda. Metroid. "Open world" Mario. I know this has been said over and over, but it's true. There are people who will literally not buy a new Nintendo console until one of those games are out. And the the audiences are generally completely different. They'll only buy one and they'll wait for it.

It's like Pokemon for handhelds. Did I want Mario Kart 7? Sure. Did I want Ocarina of Time 3D? Duh. Did I want a 3DS the day it was announced? Yep. When did I buy a 3DS? This March. Why? They finally announced Pokémon 3DS and released a Pikachu 3DS XL.

I got my Wii U because I was so done with my Wii and I had no other system, but if I did have a 360 or PS3, I sure as hell wouldn't own a Wii U yet. I'd probably buckle over when Mario Kart 8 came out.

I'm with tbone51 on this, it's like listening to a broken record. I didn't even need to look to know who created the thread.

I don't believe we (they) have lost faith in the wii u. I just believe that this year for the wii u overall has been rough for it but is on a path to success now as we push into 2014.

The price wasn't fitting for the console, there were practically no games to be played until now, and it doesn't have a lot of the features the Xbone and PS4 do have. However, there was a price drop, the end of this year and in through next year is going to haver plenty of games, and hopefully through various updates, new functions will be available in the Wii u.

So no, they haven't lost faith - they just haven't really had much to buy the wii u for.

I've got two Wii U systems, one for my son and one for me, and over 10 games already. So NO! Nintendo fans are not showing a lack of faith. I'm confident in Nintendo! 2014 is going to be a huge year!!!! Now stop with the doom threads and pick up your Gamepad!!!!

"Games are a trigger for adults to again become primitive, primal, as a way of thinking and remembering. An adult is a child who has more ethics and morals, that's all. When I am a child, creating, I am not creating a game. I am in the game. The game is not for children, it is for me. It is for an adult who still has a character of a child."

I don't think most Nintendo fans will drop out on the system because of Zeldas art style. It will sell more with the Tp artstyle, but most Zelda fans and Nintendo fans will buy it either way.

Personally I'm looking forward to 2014. If they manage to get Zelda in that year and X released in the west as well it's going to be one amazing year!

Exactly. This is the fundamental difference between Nintendo fans and Sony/MS fans. Nintendo fans have their favorite franchises - some like Metroid, some like Super Mario, some like Zelda, some like F-Zero. Releasing a kick-ass brand new Zelda game will make the Zelda fans fork out dollars, releasing a kick-ass metroid game will make Metroid fans fork out dollars. Then when the, say, Metroid fans get their game, then they may buy that Mario game or that Zelda game after allready owning the system and so forth.

For instance, a friend of mine is a hardcore F-Zero fan. He refused to buy the Wii cause it didnt have a game in that series. Thats his price for investing.

Then you have another type of Nintendo fan who want new installments of 3 or more Nintendo franchises that they like before buying a new Nintendo system. Of cource, you also have the Nintendo hardliners who might buy that brand new Nintendo console regardless. But they are very few and far between.

I decided to get a Wii U instead of a PS4, this year. I could have gotten the PS4 at launch f I hadn't bought a Wii U (how I love the financial retraints that comes with the student life -__-), but decided to wait until inFAMOUS Second Son comes out before getting it.

So far, I have no regret. The Wii U may not be as powerful as the PS4 and XBO, and it's kind of a shame since third parties are struggling to make their games run smoothly on it compared to the supposedly inferior PS3 and XBox 360...

But for me, having a Nintendo console has always been about first party games. And so far, Nintendo is delivering.
I can't wait to see the reveal trailer for the next Zelda game, and... I'm eagerly awaiting the announcement of the next Metroid game. Seriously... They need to make a new one soon!

Now, when all is said and done, the Wii U will be the only console to have X. So, no. I don't have any lack of faith.

I have faith

you know I liked it better when you weren't around as you're too in the face these days!

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Some nintendo fans initially gave the system no faith because the WII U was similar to the gamecube and dreamcast in many respects. That in turn caused alot of doubt and as time passed the WII U was proving itself more and more to those consoles ideologies. As of now their is a very little amount of nintendo fans expressing their faith towards the WII U.
