Forums - Nintendo - Are Nintendo fans showing a lack of faith in the Wii U?

It seems like the Xbox One and PS4 will outsell the Wii U in a matter of months despite having no 'great' games yet. People who buy the twin systems buy in hopes of great games coming in the next year or so. Do Nintendo fans have a lack of faith that 'great' games are coming to the Wii U? Is it the fact that Nintendo might pull of yet another cartoon Zelda? I don't get it. it seems like Nintendo has more games out already geared toward their audience then Microsoft and Sony does yet they will fall far behind. They even are 100 dollars cheaper than PS4! What do you think??

Perhaps that is simply my perception, but I am rather proud that Nintendo gamers are more pragmatic and less fashion/hype driven. It forces Nintendo to develop quality games for their systems, as they can't just rely on the hype train to sell their consoles for them.

Its third parties and exclusives. Don't you guys get it. He who has the least third parties naturally loses.

Wii says otherwise

Yeah and a lot of them made cheap games. Most didn't respect the hardware. They only went for the cheap profit. This is why there were few runaway hits from third parties.

Wii still had the least third part support yet won its generation, which pokes a bit of a hole in the theory that "He who has the least third parties naturally loses."

The Wii had a shit ton of support but no one respected the hardware. They thought it was cheap last gen tech and dove in for a quick profitable buck. He who has the third parties wins if you have their prime franchises. Nintendo never properly prepared anyone for the Wii U outside of their own company and first party developers. Hell, even Platinum Games is going to get Bayonetta out in 2014 because Nintendo published the game around 2012. It would've been out earlier if Nintendo had planned ahead and just let everyone know.

Guys, seriously ,

it´s annoying to have dozens of threads about the same issues, even if with a different title.

Anyway.. Nintendo will keep support to the WiiU and will definetely bring its best selling franchises to the device. Discontinuing it now would be the dumbest business decision they could make.

So you're saying Wii didn't have the worse third party support of the 7th gen trio?

I've just bought a Wii U because it was £180 for the premium pack on Black Friday on Amazon. For that price, it's good value for money, but for £250 or £300?? Nintendo have made a huge amount of mistakes, they've largely released niche games that have little wide commercial appeal, they've forgotten the philosophy of simplicity, accessibility and competing by non-competing that brought them such huge success with Wii.

People shouldn't be expected to put down hundreds of pounds for a console out of faith that at some point that investment will be worth it. For me, if I'm to buy a console, there should be plenty of tangible reason to do so. I only have Zelda and Nintendo Land for my Wii U right now, but with New Super Mario Bros U (I dread to think were Nintendo would be without this game), Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Rayman Legends and ZombiU to catch up on in the next couple of months, and with Donkey Kong in February, I think there's enough to justify my investment. Add Mario Kart 8, Smash Brothers, X, Bayonetta 2, and Fire Emblem v Shin Megami Tensei later in 2014, there's a good line up of exclusive software there.

I am pretty sure most people talking about the WiiU are not Nintendo gamers. (that always was the case with Nintendo consoles)

That's because at this point you can pretty much say there is no such thing as a Nintendo gamer anymore. Nintendo has killed their fanbase, they are extinct almost like the dinosaurs with only a handful of them left, kept in zoo's (hence - Wii U sales).

Good joke :)

Wii U sales = low because what sane person would buy a console with no games?  I would not have bought a WiiU until this xmas because of lack of games (I got one for free last year)

I also waited for the 3DS price drop. Even tho I have every NIntendo system (no virtual boy tho).

I have better things to do with my life.
