Nothing. Nintendo has completely "failed" on that part.
And by "Nintendo", I actually mean the name Nintendo. That name is already affiliated with Cat -suit-wearing-Italian-plumbers with cute mustaches. Nothin' will change.
They could always release a new console more powerful than the X1 and PS4, if people are willing to slam down cash for said console so soon after the Wii U and the other competitors releasing their latest stuff. One other thing Nintendo can try is creating a whole new IP. Something irresistible to the masses. What that could be, is anybodies guess.
The only chance they have is to go multiplat with their IPs
It is near the end of the end....
you can tell by the recent commercials that they are not even trying to get that audience
