Forums - Microsoft - Japan Getting 18 Month Xbox Live Gold Cards For A Steal

1.65 million after 8 years at an average of 200,000 per year is an average of under 4,000 units per week. The XBox/XBox 360 and now XBox One do not make enough games for the Japanese audiences and the low sales clearly reflect that. Shooter games are targeted towards the Americans whose culture is built around worshiping guns and violence. Japan is a completely different culture to America and corporations must be sensitive towards the needs of Japanese gamer if they want to make good sales in Japan.

The 18 month Live deal sounds good but it may not be enough to win over Japanese gamers who love their Nintendo and Sony console systems. Microsoft needs to release more Japanese market games: JRPGs, Sumo wrestling, Fishing, Mahjong, Kung Fu, fighting games, etc to win over the Japanese audiences.

Good for Xbox 360 buyers in Japan.

I didn't even know 18 month cards were a thing.
