They are the Playstation exclusive version of Crytek. Make shooters with great graphics, generic, ho-hum gameplay.

except not. not at all.
killzone series in know to have great gameplay, and multiplayer. where they are usually criticized is story.
and usually overly so, because other FPS get passes on their stories, while killzone has a much longer campaign than 90% of FPS and an above average storyline compared to most FPS (especially the like of Battlefield, COD, and Crysis)

I'm shocked at some people truly. If you don't like the 'slow' controls of Killzone -- Then turn up your sensitivity. That's exactly what I did for Multiplayer when you need to make faster turns.
Killzone has a better campaign than any mainstream shooter (Excluding Halo and maybe Resistance last generation). With Shadow Fall they removed a lot of those repetitive endless, enemy wave battles and made a game that was somewhat different from all the other Killzones. I actually enjoyed the game. I would rate it a solid 85-90. Beautiful presentation for the most part and plenty of jaw dropping visuals.
I could have done with less floating sequences, more gun variety, more enemy variety and a better written story line. But overall, compared to pretty much (Every) shooter I've played recently? It's just swell. Having a blast with the multiplayer too.
People seriously are so over-saturated with the same FPS that they can't fathom getting used to how Killzone plays. Give it a chance, you'll enjoy it quite a bit.

From what i've heard Shadowfall consists of endless waves of enemies in every battle.
OT. I do believe Guerilla are heading in Crytek's direction due to recent games being all about graphics and such but they are still making good games unlike Crytek. As for the controls, i do agree GG should've made it lighter than the previous titles to attract the whole new audience that comes with a console launch, but i personally love killzone controls where others do not.

FPS view cameras are supposed to be controlling your EYES to look around, not your entire body." One of my biggest pet peeves in gaming is the "there can only be one control method per genre". I hate that so much. In my opinion, that's just laziness on the part of the player and an unwillingness to step into a different game with an open mind. I don't want to play the same game over and over within a different shell. |
Quoted for infinite truth. I don't understand why people just want to play CoD reskinned over and over, if that's the case then shooters really are the most creatively bereft genre, it's terrible.

KZ is known to have great gameplay? By who? Not the majority of reviewers. KZ's main problem has always been its gameplay. It does nothing really to set itself apart from those very games you listed. Instead it just lifts elements from those games. KZ2 had good MP, until the community realized what was broken and the game become an unbalanced, broken mess. KZ's story is also extremely generic. I would put it alongside Gears of War, just below average. Far below CoD and even below Crysis and Battlefield. (and of course, all of these are far far far below the likes of Bioshock, Spec Ops, etc)
Everything people say about Crytek you could easily slap right onto GG as well.

Well so his opinion is wrong and yours is not? Hmmmm

I enjoyed KZ2 and KZ3 quite a bit, but KZSF is pretty terrible. The gameplay simply isn't compellingly, the control scheme with the touch pad is poorly implemented, and outside some impressive lighting and effects, its not a very good looking game, either.
Everything is great It just lack memorable characters.
