Might Gears Of War Go Multiplatform?

In an interview with Kotaku, Phil Spencer was asked about many things including where the Gears of War franchise is headed. Spencer didn’t have much to say on the franchise, as well as if the game would remain exclusive to Xbox.

I asked Spencer what was next for Gears and if he could provide any assurances that the series would remain exclusive to Xbox. He gave a little laugh. “It’s Epic’s franchise,” he said. “You and I both know that. I can’t make any assurances about anybody else’s franchise.”

He deferred to Epic on the question on the state of Gears. I asked Epic what was next and if Gears would still be Xbox-only. They declined to comment.

Considering Mass Effect, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising: Off The Record went multiplatform, there’s a big chance that PlayStation owners might get to experience Gears of War as well. The fact that Epic declined to comment when asked directly from Microsoft is something of a hint. This isn’t concrete proof that it will go multiplatform, but it definitely makes that glimmer of hope shine just a little brighter.

i thought they werent even working on a gears game?

I like the last paragraph. Possibly the worst examples ever, mentioning twice Dead Rising and Mass Effect xD

As for the OT, Gears of war might have gone multiplatform since the first game. Epic owns the IP.

Gears of War is a great series, but it's kind of run its course. It was the killer-app the 360 needed in its first year and Sony wish it had (though eventually found something similar in Uncharted).

If Gears does make it to this gen it won't have near the impact it did the last generation. Gears of War averaged 6 million+ sales I think in order to do that next gen it would need to be released on PS4 and Xbox One.

I hope it doesn't go anywhere, that franchise is way overrated, they should focus on something new.

This is what a 'people can fly dev' told me:

- Epic owns Gears of war but they have a contract with Ms that only when Ms accept Epic can make a new Gears of war. Kowen probably knows the name of the contract.
- If their is a new Gears of war coming it will be developped by people can fly. Epic themself are done with it.
- Epic is working on a exclusive PS4 game.

I am kind of a gears of war fan who is probably one of the few who enjoyed judgement (top 100 on the leaderboards). =p So yeah I am interested in the next GEOW.

unless MS pays epic for exclusivity it will go multiplat. gears is a big enough franchise not to need exclusivity to drum up excitement anymore.

Gears 1-3 was THE franchise of the 7th gen for me (Judgement NEVER HAPPENED, okay.). I'll always remember those games fondly. Where it goes from there is anyone's guess.

Judgment isn't a bad game. It's just that if you compare with the other game's quality, it pales in comparison. But it is still a good game, just the weakest Gears of War game.

I would like it if it went multiplatform, as long as it isnt made by people can fly...
