Forums - Nintendo - A biased review: Mario Kart 7

Agree completely.

Still bothered that there was no single player vs. mode. It went from potential second favorite Mario Kart to distant 3rd, only saved from fantastic (overall) track designs.

I have VERY high hopes for Mario Kart 8. Don't let me down, Nintendo.

Would score it pretty much the same, its a damn fine kart racer.

And that Waluigi Pinball track is SUPERB.

Solid review as always, but you knock the game for receiving a patch? If the game were broke right out of the box then I'd understand, but MK7's issue was a randomly discovered exploit that only mattered if you played online. The patch was for balance and making sure the game was played as intended, basically it was a good thing.

Um, the online was essentially broken right out of the box. Lots of people picked the Wuhu mountain track and that was already the worst track in the game before the exploit was discovered. This had a serious negative impact on online races with strangers. People became fed up at that time and didn't even want to play online anymore. I know I wasn't the only one.

Yes, the patch fixed what was broken, so in that way it was a good thing. But such a patch shouldn't be necessary in the first place. It's not the job of paying customers to act as beta-testers, so I docked 0.1 points from the score to move it out of the glorious 9 range. There are still the issues of no single player vs. mode, the unnecessary blue shell bounce and the takedowns while hanggliding, so it was a low 9 at best.

I guess I'm just such a nice guy that I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt! That Maka Wuhu glitch was far from obvious, it's a wonder how someone even found it. Must of been someone on a random suiciding spree! xD

Thankfully MK8 changed the way Lakitu functions now, so such glitches will be a thing of the past!

While the term should be taken with a pinch of salt concerning a Mario Kart game, I honestly feel it is in fact the most balanced Mario Kart game to date. That's considering I bought the game post-patch, however.

But for some reason, I dunno, I don't think I've had as much fun with it as MKDS, even though that games online infrastructure was barebones as all hell, 4 players maximum, missing tracks, and more often than not, turned into a clusterfuck of maintaining PRBs/counterpicking snakers with Rainbow Road.

Maybe part of me really, really wanted to have Vanilla Lake or Bowser's Castle from SMK in the game. I swear to God, if MK8 uses Mario Circuit 4 over both of them...

Well, as long as you know in your heart that Mario Kart 7 is the better game, we don't it if you enjoy MKDS more.

I'm just kidding! MKDS is great and my personal second favorite.

Yet another interesting review. But I'm skipping to MK8 personally.

Understandable so close before release. I mean I liked MK 7 still a lot but 8 looks still like a much better game with more track variety. At least it has more potential to do so....

Then you'll still buy MK8!
Also, something is clearly wrong with you if you're having more fun with DS's online than 7's. You should go get yourself checked out!

MK8 is basically MK7 but more and better, so yeah. :L

BTW this game is lower then MK 7? wow... but it's probably because it hasn't the same wow factor for you after ALTTP.....I guess I'm lucky, I never really played ALTTP and will only purchase it if it comes to 3DS or Wii U VC :) ALBW is like the second coming of Jesus for me :D

EDIT: Damn, too many tabs, wrong thread sorry.

What gives it the edge is the gravity......unlimited track variety in theory!
