Forums - Nintendo - Reggie tease an appearance for the VGX Spike Awards DEC. 7

It's not on GT yet. I'll have to see the interview before I make a opinion. Nintendo has never done anything at the VGAs. VGAs has always been a barren for nintendo fans and I'm not yet ready to believe it will change this year. It would be a good thing for Nintendo to finally aknowledge these kinds of mainstream events and actualy try showing the world they still exists for a change.

I'll be able to judge once I see the interview. If it's Geoff who brought up the topic and Reggies answers with a quick maybe to shove away the question w/o showing they have their head up their asses once again or if it's actualy Reggie who brought up the topic. That's two completly different thing.

With all the PS4vsXone, no one is talking about Nintendo and they can't allow themselves to stay invisible again at the VGAs, that would be embarassing. So I hope I'm wrong and that this statement actualy end up being something serious.

PS: I hate you for bringing up Zelda, I'm so excited now. I doubt it will happen cause Nintendo seem to be clueless at marketing but it would actualy make sense since the crowd are core/mainstream gamers and it would finally give Nintendo some spotlight in this console war.

I hope it's NOT Zelda, too much zelda this year will have gamers rolling their eyes at Nintendo (a little. They need to show something new, show their here to stay next gen. Besides, there a number of Nintendo titles, nominated, including 3D World for GotY.

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

They already said Zelda U wont be shown until E3, so can't be that. I honestly have no idea what it could be, anything really, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up. They should be having a Nintendo Direct around that time so if they have anything major to tell us that's where we'd hear about it I'd think.

Gamers only watch Spike VGX for the world premiere, and I'm hoping its not Zelda and hoping its a new IP. Nintendo would be foolish to not take this chance to take the spot light.

Yeah I think it would have to be a newly announced game if not X, Bayo 2, or SMT x FE, as I can't see them talking about any of their other known games here.

Paraphrasing the question and answer but it was basically this word for word:

Geoff: VGX is coming up, I understand Nintendo may be making an appearance?

Reggie (smiles): We may be making an appearance, we may be doing something special. We'll see.

Geoff: Alright, so fans will have to tune in. Always nice to hear from you Reggie, blah blah blah, we hope to see you on December 7th (VGX date) for some Nintendo fun.

No they said it would be at E3 but didnt that would be the first time its shown.

Im hoping for a teaser trailer at VGX, full reveal at E3, holiday 2014 release

They didn't say that for 3D Mario, Smash Bros., or Mario Kart either mr. technical, but we knew it was implied.

I think they should go for it. Zelda trailer. Do it. Get the applause, get people excited about the system and get them in stores buying the console with Mario 3D World. Show Bayonetta 2 and Smash Bros too.

Waiting until E3 ... honestly I'm not sure if the system has that much time to waste. The next 6 months are absolutely make or break, Nintendo must generate enthusiasm now, they have already wasted almost an entire year. It's time to draw the line in the sand and fight for this platform.

If it's another GameCube ... fine, but at least go down fighting, no more of passive wussy "we're saving that for later" crap. There may be no later for the Wii U to fight for if the system doesn't pull through quickly, it's fighting for its life right now.

Sure it does mr. doom n gloom! The holiday momentum should be maintained thanks to DKCTF up until MK8 comes out, and in between that there's bound to be other game release's and game announcements to keep interest.

Personally I think Nintendo needs to erase this lazy attitude they have with regards to marketing their products. The attitude is basically "we do the absolute minimum amount of work we can and just hope things go well for us". Name me one singular benefit that's ever come from it.

This is a tough business. Oddly enough I can't think of anything that sums it up better than that Britney Spears song (lol) "you better work, b*tch".

Fortunately I think Nintendo's getting an eye opener from the incredible enthusiasm around the PS4 and X1 launches and realizing they have to engage in these types of events or they are going to have virtually no mindshare with consumers other than Nintendo fanatics. Which just isn't good enough.

I'm pleased that they are engaging with Spike/Gametrailers. Nintendo maybe one year ago doesn't even bother to do this and figures a Nintendo Direct is good enough (Nintendo Direct honestly IMO is the worst type of marketing ... it's just preaching to the same little choir of fans).

I don't get why retro needs more time with DK:TF even after 3 friggen years of working on it!

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Doubt it's an announcement. His words sound like it's a one time thing like having people dress up and recreate a battle in smash.

I seriously doubt it's been in development for much longer than a year and a half even. I think they were working on something else, but something happened and the decision was made to make a new DKC for time purposes.
