I agree. Without Gasol Memphis won't make it to the Playoffs and will be a lottery team. The West is just too strong. How long is he expected to be out?

The Bulls, well... They will easily make the Playoffs without Rose, but won't stand a chance once they get there. On the other hand though, I think that should he get the surgery asap, he might be back for the Playoffs this time.

As a Lakers fan since 03, I really hope Kobe's new contract is WAY below his current one, for the sake of the team's cap space. 

Disappointing for the Griz moreso than the Bulls in my opinion. I had a feeling DRose was going to get another major injury. His playstyle is very demanding.

I think the lakers massively overpayed him this time. He will be the best paid player of the league when he clearly is not the best player anymore, but at the same time I guess they didn't had much of a choice .. they would have looked bad if they didn't showed some loyalty to their most important player of the last 10 years

Seems like the lakers plan is to add one or even two star players with their additional cap space. I don't think it will work for them tbh.

Agreed about being massivley overpaid. Even if 100% healthy, he barely cracks my top 10 players (and he's my favorite player, so it's not biased). 

If I were him, I'd want a much more modest 10 mil per year or so, so you can sign better free agents and go for that 6th ring. He has enough money!!!

I'm massively disappointed in Kobe. When healthy he is the best shooting guard, but I think he has earned so much the couple last years, having an absolutely crazy high contract, that I'd expect him to do what LeBron did and get a small contract, so that Lakers can surround him with big time players to chase the ring. He doesn't need the biggest contract to be the main man on the Lakers' team. Lakers could go after Melo and a bunch of other players that would make them a contender. I always thought he was mainly a competitor, competing with MJ, but it seems money is more important to him.

I can't believe Derrick Rose! I feel genuinely bad for the guy. I foresee his sheer talent going the way of Grant Hill's career due to injuries. Also, I am a huge Suns fan. Bledsoe has missed the last 4 games but apparantly he MIGHT play tonight against the Heat.

 

/EDIT - Dammit he is still out.  We are going to get stomped for sure.

Oh here is the nba.com rankings page. It's pretty good. The guy's writing style is straightforward and brief.  I like it a lot more than other sites where it is all drawn out and totally opinionated.
