Its is, the problem is the target is the same that bougth the console at launch. So, now it will sel for the ones that aredly intend to buy, but waited till the year end.
"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Third party titles have been even worse. And Nintendo seems to want to forget that Nintendoland ever happened by removing it from the bundle, halving its price, and removing it from the eshop. Ouch. Do you think Super Mario 3D World will finally be a system seller for the Wii U? Or do you think it too will disappoint like so many titles before it? |
Uh, Super Mariod 3D World is on a whole nother level from niche stuff like Wonderful 101 and the mediocre Sonic Lost World..
Absolutely Super Mario 3D World will be a system seller. It is Nintendo's most popular franchise, and has recieved almost universal praise, not to mention we are nearing the holidays.. Question is, to what extent will it push hardware? While it won't quite be NSMB Wii 2009 level of explosion, I believe it will be by far the biggest system seller Wii U has seen yet.
It will help to boost the console's sales, that's for sure, but not nearly as much as the Nintendo hardcore fans on this site want to believe. If anything, I think it will help to keep the Wii U's sales at around 80K per week (after January).
You know what would be a great system seller? A PRICE CUT.
As good as the game seems to be, I doubt it. I highly doubt it.

You think 3d mario is a better seller than 2d Mario? Introduce yourself to facts. |
It can be, especially because 3D is usually more unique and groundbreaking. I enjoyed NSMBW when it came out. But I bought the system when Mario Galaxy released.

a consistent system seller? i don't think so, but i believe it'll push wii u sales up to 130k / week.
unfortunately , the true system seller is comming only next year, mario kart 8.

Mario has always been a system seller, the's a difference between how the 2d and 3d games perform commercially, the 2d game sell over a long time they are the go to games during holidays and such hence why NSMBW was always in the charts every holiday since it's launch. In the long run the 2d games shift more systems but in the short term the 3d games move more units, people are harping on about needing support because they're looking at the short term, 3DW is a holiday release and will probably be the most sort out title through out December then about a month after that DK is released then soon after MK8 is released and so on.
That's 3DW's support, it'll sell well in the short term as wel as have legs to carry itself until the next first party title arrives.
