The offense was carried out in Kyoto so I guess the police there were the ones covering the case and have jurisdiction nationwide, maybe unlike in the US where there are boundaries (or so I am lead to believe if the movies are accurate).
Maybe he was pissed off that SM3DW only got a 93 metacritic score and blamed Nintendo.
I sure hope he stays away from those grow large mushrooms.
