Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Acknowledges People Think The Wii U Is Part Of The Wii In Commercial

This was a...

bad move 16 10.39%

Good move. They've got family oriented games this year so that's who they should target. If they can get a killer line up of core games next year though, it might be hard to switch target demographics and make those games sell. We'll see....

I think that add gave me cancer.

Well, the whole "All new Wii U" thing they had before didn't seem to work, at least they're remembering that Wii U just NEEDS to be advertised.

Then thier earlier ads would have given you Super Cancer, cause these recent ads are quite a step up (still need more but at least we are getting ads at a steady pace now).

This won't do much. Most people aren't so stupid that they don't know the Wii U is a different console.

You'd be surprised

yes you would. if conversations with my coworkers are anything to go by (and I think they are) most people either have no idea the wii u exists at all or no idea that it is a new console. Nintendo have thus far failed to adequately promote the machine to anyone outside of game forums and video game sites. they could've easily avoided a good deal of the confusion by simply calling the damn machine wii2 but NOOOOOOOOOOooooooooOOOO, that would've been too obvious.

At least they do seem to be addressing their mistakes, but I fear the cost may already be way too high.
