Not just that. As the hype fades, they both will have anemic sales next year. This trend has been common since their predecessors, was with 3DS, Vita and WiiU and will continue to be like that.

I mntioned 3rd parties
bet with ash3336 he wins if Super Mario 3D World sells less than Mario Sunshine during the first three years, I win if 3D World outsells Sunshine's first 3 years. Loser get sig controlled for 3 months (punishment might change)
Do you doubt the WiiU? Do you believe that it won't match the GC?
Then come and accept this bet

The PS4 and XB1 do not have the same problems that all those three things have. The 3DS has the entire mobile marketspace to battle with, the Vita has Nintendo's (shrinking) dominance in the handhelds market to fight with, and the WiiU has no 3rd party support and so far looks like its just another 7th gen console. With a strange pad.

I seem to recall MH3U and Lego City Undercover increasing Wii U sales in their respective launch weeks by a factor of three and two, respectively. That said, Wii U sales were pretty dismal at that point (hanging around the 20,000 units per week mark), so it's not exactly something to go nuts about.
The problem with third party multiplats for the Wii U is that the majority of the people who are interested in said third party titles have already long since bought a console to play them on. Since the Wii did a major number of Nintendo's reputation with fans as far as third party titles go, most people who routinely buy those games have a 360, PS3, or PC to do so. Nobody's going to buy a Wii U just to play Injustice on when they already have a console that will play the game fine.
It also hasn't helped that the Wii U versions of multiplat games have been getting gimped pretty badly compared to other consoles.

Tech is quantifiable, whereas yours ain't and is just guess work by you to big up old tech. There was an epic thread on eurogamer where it was clearly spelt out what a next gen console is - a game console that can play next gen games. If you just say "its the next one so its next gen" then why isn't my microwave a next gen console? Your argument cant hold up to even the most basic scrutiny. |
Because your Microwave isn't a game console.

Noooo waaayy, really?
Why isn't it? Thats what im saying, how you say it isnt a console will show you that theres more to a console than "it was released as the next one".
