they assemble the XOne at Brazil, which makes it cheaper.

Ethomaz, here is an idea: give it 6 months man. Play GT6, GTA5,AC4, South Park and Watch Dogs on the PS3, and whatever else comes out for it.
in may, stuff will start to change here in Brazil, maybe the price will drop. and, anyways, the launch consoles are more prompt to break and there are not that many good games.
If we could pay a reasonable price (up to a thousand dollars), I would say: DO IT!
But even if you are rich, almost 2k is obscene...

The current forcast here is that at official retailer the XOne will beat PS4 in more than 20 to 1.

There is no marketing what so ever for the PS4 though there are contdowns for the One in praticaly every major retailer.

Actually, on the PS3 and the Xbox 360's are currently being made in Brazil.  And the Xbox One will be made there very soon.  I think the X1 will have another price drop after that.  No word on the PS4 yet.

The Xbox One's price looks like the US price plus that 40% import tax on electronics more or less.  No clue as to why the PS4 is so freakin' much higher.

I'm temped to go an hang out at the  Sony Corporate store down the street to see if I can get a PS4 discounted for Ethomaz, then sell him a pecnil that includes a FREE PS4. 

But I'd make him get a Xbox One and write reviews about it.  I think he would be surprized by how much he enjoys some of it.

If you can send one PS4 and one Xbone as gift or charging for the Pecnil I will review Xbox with much more love =]

But is not only the XOne, the Wii U that launches on november 26th is expensive but not as much, 1900 reales (850 dollars) is the official price. And to my knowledge Nintendo is not making the console in Brazil. So there is something else going on in the PS4 price.

Yeah, I find that odd too since the WiiU is imported, sony is up to no good in Brazil, and I am not buying till they get their shit together...

Also, I think I have a way out of the tax.  Like Mexican real estate.  Instead of selling you the PS4/X1's at cost. I could lease them to you for 99 years.

Well... in reality legally you couldn't to a brazilian... we can just import new items to buy (so I believe if you buy from a vendor and sell it to me without emiting fiscal document it wouldn't be considered new - to some fiscals at least), a lend would be temporarily and "temporary import" cannot be longer than 3 months IF i'm not mistaken...

The  gift take is already know by fiscals here... more inteligent would be to take it out of the box and send it in a old gen box stating its defective to be used for parts... if you want to help out this friend I accept to buy an PS4 from you with a small fee (just take out the HDD from the console and send in a different box) saying its defective for parts (but state the item inside, but with a US$ 50,00 or 100,00 dollars) and without the HDD in the box (send with one month diference and for my alternative address) even if they try to power it they won't be able...

If you find a PS4 this year and decides to help this friend (not dumb enough to buy in Brazil what would cost to go to USA and buy within the tax exemptions from travel) we can make arrangements through IM, REALLY INTERESTED.

If it's cheaper to import do it that way, if not then buy it locally.
