Couple months ago i made a thread about preorders at target. People complained because there was no hard numbers. Well here they are. 170 ps4's at 10 stores averaging 17 per store. 

Remind me before X1 launch and I'll make a similar thread.

I should also include these just cover pre-orders right now and my manager said we might get a special shipment before launch

I wonder how they would compare to a Best Buy or Gamestop?

I do know when the PS3 launched, the Targets generally only got 10-12 units per store period. Some stores only got 6 of them. What really pissed me off was that the Target employees knew that they only had 8 of them at their store and there were 20+ people waiting in line for hours. 25 minutes before they opened, they came out to tell us they only had 8 of them. There were people there the whole time and they could have come out and just told us.

Target is a bigger retailer than best buyr but i dont think we would get the same amount for an electronic like ps4. Gamestop, walmart and amazon would definitly get more.

I can also say the minimum a store got was 12 units (my store which is the lowest volume) the highest volume store (naperville and is a super target) recieved 25 units

Funny, when i make an ambiguous thread people comment about bwing ambiguous. When i make a non ambiguous thread they dont care. 

I could probably get some numbers from milwaukee too but that would require a 20minute out of the way drive for me

so for ALL of target, you are only getting 170 units?

NVM, you are only talking 10 Target stores, I'm assuming in your area or district.

So you're estimating 17 / store for all of Target.

Target has 1778 stores in US (http://investors.target.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=65828&p=irol-homeprofile)

so approximately 1778 * 17 = 30,226 total PS4 sold on Friday in the US' 4th largest retailer.

We can assume that Walmart, Best Buy, Gamestop will all have more as they are either larger retailers overall or larger in gaming market.

I'd take a safe wager and suggest on day one PS4 will sell between 350k and 500k units in US alone.

I have no knowledge of how things work in the USA, what does this mean actually? Is it a high number or low?

Well extrapolating it for the us it would be about 30k for us on friday from probably the 4th biggest retailer 

We can determine if its small or big next week compared to x1

Interesting. I wonder how many are alloted to stores and how many are sold through online retailer aka Amazon or PS Store. I assume you can order a PS4 through PS Store?

I will be interesting to here your allotment when it comes to X1´s aswell, fun times are ahead for everyone I hope :).

That seems really low. But when you think there are 2109 Target stores in the USA. That would be 34,323 PS4's they could sell. Which still seems kinda low to me, but Target sells many more things that just electronics.
